Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have announced that they have split after 16 years together, although it turns out that the Game of Thrones and Aquaman star first fell for his partner long before they met – having been enthralled with Bonet since seeing her on TV when he was eight years old.
In a joint statement issued on social media, the couple - who had been married for five years - explained how their relationship has reached the end of its course.
"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times," they wrote.
"A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception... feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.
"And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage.
"We share this not because we think it's newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.
"The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become.”
A few years back, Momoa, 42, revealed he only told Bonet, 54, about his feelings for her when he was younger after they’d had two children together - daughter Lola Iolani Momoa and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.
He told James Corden on The Late Late Show: “Ever since I was like, eight years old and I saw her on the TV, I was like, 'Mommy, I want that one.'
"I'm like, 'I'm going to stalk you for the rest of my life and I'm going to get you.' I'm a full-fledged stalker.'
"I didn't tell her that until we had two babies, otherwise, I'd be creepy and weird.
"But yeah, [I'd] just always wanted to meet her. She was a queen, always."
He also reflected on how they eventually met – in a jazz club in New York City, no less.
He said: "We just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
"I actually had dreaded my hair for her. I had dreadlocks, she had dreadlocks.
"I literally turned around and I see her and she goes, 'I'm Lisa'. I turned around to my friend and I [pretended to scream]. I had f***ing fireworks going off inside, man."
He added: "I convinced her to take me home, because I was living in a hotel."
