Tom Cruise has got himself something of a reputation for being one of Hollywood's most eyebrow-raising A-listers.
But the Top Gun star was brutally mocked by Judd Apatow as he hosted the Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday (18 February).
Referring to the actor's now-notorious 2005 interview with Oprah, Apatow joked: "Remember when Tom Cruise jumped up and down on the couch and we all thought, 'What a lunatic!'

"And now he rides a motorcycle off a cliff and BASE jumps and we’re all like, 'Tom's fine!' Tom is not fine. Someone needs to explain to him something called CGI. You're 60. Calm down."
The host then took aim at Tom Cruise's personal life.
"The only thing he seems to be afraid of is co-parenting and antidepressants," he went on.
"I doubled my Prozac today just for this. I doubled it! Do you think if Tom Cruise took antidepressants, he’d be like, 'I'm not jumping out of a f**king cliff. I'm rich!'"

This comment about Cruise's parenting follows his public difficulties when it comes to maintaining a relationship with his three children - most notably, his daughter Suri, now 16.
Apatow's comment about the use of mental health medications, meanwhile, comes after Cruise said he was against psychiatric medication on The Today Show in 2005, where he referred to it as 'dangerous'.
However, the actor stressed that his opinion in this area was not influenced by his involvement in the Church of Scientology which bans the use of 'mind-altering psychotropic drugs'.

Unfortunately for Cruise, the host's brutal takedown of basically his entire life didn't stop there and he also roasted the actor for his famously short stature.
"The special effects in Maverick were so top-notch, I couldn't even see the stack of phone books Tom Cruise sat on to reach the flight controls," he said of the 5ft 7 actor.
He then moved onto Cruise's penchant for doing his own stunts, despite his advancing years.

"But every time he does one of these new stunts, it does feel like an ad for Scientology," Apatow joked.
"I mean, is that in Dianetics? Because there's nothing about jumping off a cliff in the Torah."
Mercifully, Cruise wasn't personally present for Apatow's brutal takedown at the awards ceremony. However, the director of Top Gun: Maverick Joseph Kosinski was.
And as reported by Variety, he did not appear amused by Apatow's remarks... at all.
