Viewers have flooded to social media in stitches after Kate Winslet admitted on The Graham Norton Show she 'nearly did a poo on stage once'.

When you've got to go, you've got to go - or sometimes, in more unfortunate cases, you don't have much control over it, even when you're an actor, on stage, during a performance and in front of a huge crowd.

On Friday, 9 December, the icon and legend that is Kate Winslet revealed to Graham Norton and his guests she nearly had an accident mid-way through a theatrical production of 'What The Butler Saw' by Joe Orton at the Royal Exchange in Manchester at the age of 18.

She said: "I played this character named Geraldine, who goes to apply for the job of the doctor's secretary and he says, 'Well, let me see, Miss Barkley, I'm going to have to give you a full physical examination, please go behind the curtain and strip'.

"[...] So in a normal situation, there's a regular stage, much like this one with an audience there. So you'd think we'll go behind the curtain and you take your clothes off and you throw your things over and no one can see you. [...] This theatre was in the round."

Not only did Winslet have to strip naked while not safely concealed from the audience's view, but when she lay down on the doctor's bed she was in for another unpleasant surprise.

Kate Winslet has opened up about when she thought she sh*t herself on stage.

After stripping and lying down on the bed butt-naked, lying 'really kind of uncomfortably and awkwardly,' Winslet found a whole other reason to feel awkward.

"I'm lying there and suddenly... It's happening, it's happening, it's happening. Oh my God, I'm going to sh*t myself," she continues. "I'm lying on a white sheet, naked on the stage."

'Convinced [she'd] totally sh*t [herself] on stage.' Winslet was then faced with the dilemma of having to stand up and 'come out from behind the curtain and look for all [her] clothes'.

Winslet revealed she thankfully hadn't actually pooed herself on stage.
BBC

After fashioning herself a makeshift nappy, 'standing in front of an audience who can see [her] from every f*cking angle,' Winslet managed to get up, find her clothes and 'slither off the stage'.

Whether or not she actually exploded on stage?

Winslet revealed: "Ladies and gentleman, I had not actually done a poo, but the second I got into my dressing room and I ran into that bathroom? Gunfire."

Fans of the star are in stitches over Winslet's story.

Viewers have since flocked to social media in stitches over Winslet's account of nearly sh*tting herself on stage.

One TikToker said: "'It's happening, it's happening!' It's ok Kate... We've all been there."

"I swear Graham has a way without trying to get stars to tell their most embarrassing stories," another wrote.

A final resolved: "Knowing this kind of thing happens to the likes of Kate Winslet gives us all hope."
