An audio clip has been played in court that could dispute Johnny Depp's claim that Amber Heard severed his finger during an argument.
When Depp testified during his defamation trial this week, he was asked about the infamous work trip to Australia, where he was filming another Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The 58-year-old said his finger was severed when his then-wife threw a bottle of vodka at him in a fit of rage.
"[Amber] threw the large bottle and it made contact and shattered everywhere," he said.
"I honestly didn't feel the pain at first at all... what I felt was, I felt heat. I felt as if something were dripping down my hand.
"And then I looked down and realised that the tip of my finger had been severed."

Heard has previously claimed Depp cut off his own finger.
An audio recording as been played at the defamation trial in Virginia that appears to back up Ms Heard's allegation.
The clip is from an argument between the two and Heard's lawyer believes Depp can be heard saying: "I'm talking about Australia, the day that I chopped my finger off."
Once the snippet finished, Depp disputed what was being suggested and reckons he was saying 'the day I got my finger chopped off'.

The audio is tough to hear as both Heard and Depp are speaking at the same time, however the Aquaman star's lawyer asked the court to play the clip again.
Depp cast doubt on the recording and pointed to another audio clip where he didn't believe someone called him an 'a**hole'.
However, in a further blow to Depp's version of events, the court was shown a text message the actor sent about the incident.
He wrote: "This is the second time that he's held off from giving me Meds by blackmailing me into seeing him...The first time I had just chopped my finger off."

Depp previously stated while giving testimony that he lied about how the finger was injured in order to protect his then wife.
"I said that I had smashed it in these large accordion doors. I lied because I didn't want to disclose... that it had been Ms. Heard that had thrown a vodka bottle at me," he said earlier this week.
"I tried to just keep things as copasetic and as easy as possible for everyone. I did not want to put her name in that mix."

He also revealed that he used the severed finger to write confronting messages around the home after the alleged incident.
Images were shown to the court of how Depp dipped his finger into paint to write phrases like 'GOOD LUCK AND BE CAREFUL AT TOP'.
When he was asked about why he wrote those words, he replied: "I thought it was good advice."
