Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi has made the remarkable claim that Christian Bale may be the best villain Marvel has ever seen in the upcoming film.

Look, Thanos is quite possibly one of the hardest villains to beat in movie history; however, we’re more than open to the possibility that Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher could beat him out.

Waititi shared his feelings on Bale’s villainous character in the fourth instalment of the Thor series while also praising the group of characters when speaking to AP News.

He said: “It’s a great, really fun, weird little group of heroes, a new team for Thor with Korg, Valkyrie and The Mighty Thor. And, in my humble opinion, we have probably the best villain that Marvel’s ever had in Christian Bale.”

While Thanos may have seemed like be all and end all for Marvel villains, the studio has had quite the array of villainous characters to follow on from Avengers: End Game.

Characters such as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision and the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home have both excelled as exciting and intriguing characters.

Christian Bale is no slouch in the superhero department either, bringing Batman to life within the Dark Knight trilogy.

Although some claim he has some competition with Robbert Pattison’s portrayal in the recent DC film directed by Matt Reeves.

Gorr the God Butcher, should be an interesting character for Bale to play, with the alien symbiote first appearing in the Thor: God of Thunder comic book series published by Marvel Comics.

The character will make its live-action debut in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder film.

The film is set to follow Thor’s, played by Chris Hemsworth, attempt to find inner peace following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

On the character, Waititi said: “Thor is just trying to figure out his purpose, trying to figure out exactly who he is and why he’s a hero or whether he should be a hero. I guess you could call it a midlife crisis"

The upcoming film features a seriously stacked supporting cast as well.

We have Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, and Vin Diesel as Groot.

In case it wasn’t obvious, the Guardians of the Galaxy will be well and truly along for the journey with Thor in his attempt to find inner peace.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on July 8 2022.
