US singer Lizzo has said traditional relationships scare her and that she can love someone forever in a relationship with no 'rules'.
The singer-songwriter told the Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM hosted by DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Angel Yee yesterday that although she is not polyamorous, she does not believe in monogamy.
"I think a traditional relationship scares me for 10 years, but love is forever. I can love somebody forever," Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, said on the Youtube channel. "Monogamy, I think to me, is a little claustrophobic — I think because there's the rules."

"I think a love relationship that's not monogamous has no rules," the 34-year-old went on to say. "I think people who do poly and all that stuff — there's still rules. I don't want any rules."
The admission may not come as news to many of her fans as the iconic singer is not shy of flirting with other celebrities online including Harry Styles and Chris Evans.
Lizzo later opened up to the popular show about her current partner, Myke Wright. "I have the most genuine people around me," she said. "They don't give a s**t about 'Lizzo' with the chain on. They care about 'Melissa', and everyone I'm close with has known me before all of this happened and I think that's important."

The star added: "Even the man I'm with, he knew me before all of this too. We were friends," she added. "It hit different when they knew you before 2019."
She said learning to accept love has changed her perspective on life and saved her from ending up in a 'lonely, anxious place'. Instead, the award-winning artist said finding love brought her to 'healthier, safer, happier place'.
The singer then said being in a relationship without rules doesn't mean she is 'out here f***ing and sucking and ducking'
"It doesn't mean he is either. It just means that there are no expectations, and that way, the love gets to just be the main event.

"As long as you love me, I'm cool. It doesn't mean he is either. It just means that there are no expectations, and that way, the love gets to just be the main event."
When asked what she would do if her partner wanted a monogamous relationship, she responded: "We can still have that — just not call it monogamy."
Lizzo explained that at the end of the day, her relationship with Wright is purely based on their loved for each other: "I think that's what we have, which is the most beautiful, pure thing ever."
