Margot Robbie has sided with DC fans, calling once again for a Harley Quinn queer romance.
The Australian actress played comic books villain in 2016's Suicide Squad, and then went on to reprise the role of the unhinged baddie in Cathy Yan's all-female Birds of Prey and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.

While fans got to see Harley's toxic relationship with Jared Leto's Joker unfold in Suicide Squad, the DC Extended Universe films have never explored her bisexuality.
In the comics, the character has been in a relationship with fellow villainess Poison Ivy, leaving many hopeful to see this storyline written into the movies at some point.
The HBO animated series didn't waste much time before giving the fans what they wanted. Created by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey, the show follows Harley Quinn (voiced by Kaley Cuoco) and her best friend Poison Ivy (Lake Bell).
The pair take their connection to the next level towards the end of season two, and become all loved-up in the third instalment, which debuted last year.

When will the films follow suit? Very soon, hopes Robbie.
In a recent chat with ComicBook.com, the actor said she has been trying to make a queer romance happen for her Harley for quite some time.
"I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I've been pushing for that. I want it too," she said.

It might help that Robbie served as a producer on Birds of Prey and may continue exert some creative control on further Harley Quinn chapters. At the moment, however, it isn't clear when she will be seen in the role next.
When asked who would make a great Poison Ivy, Robbie remained vague.
"Honestly, when I pictured, I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. I don't really actually picture an actress doing it, but I agree, that would be so good," she said.

Meanwhile, another star is taking on the role of Harley Quinn next in the hotly-anticipated sequel to Todd Phillips' Joker.
Lady Gaga is set to feature as the character opposite Joaquin Phoenix's titular antihero for a musical follow-up.
Largely set in Arkham Asylum, Joker: Folie à Deux is said to be focusing on the wild relationship between Joker and Harley (as the French title suggests), so it's safe to assume there won't be much screen time left for Harley's same-sex dalliances.
