Former Skins actor Megan Prescott recently revealed that she’s been moonlighting on Onlyfans since the start of the pandemic, and that she could not have financially survived the lockdown period without the aid of the adult subscription service.
Prescott, 30, is best known for playing Katie Fitch in the hit E4 drama Skins while she was a teenager, alongside her identical twin Kathryn Prescott.
Megan has continued to write and act since the end of the show, but ended up turning to stripping when the pandemic crippled the arts industry in 2020, eventually turning to OnlyFans to help pay the bills.
Speaking to The Sun, Megan said: “If it wasn’t for OnlyFans I wouldn’t have been able to survive the last two years without working seven days a week in menial jobs.
“I started my page in April 2020 when the pandemic hit as I didn’t get furloughed for a while.
“I had zero money and was told by a friend who has worked as a stripper for years that people were guaranteed to subscribe because they had watched me in Skins.
“I thought I may as well try and it went very well. I only do what I’m comfortable with and log on when I want to because it takes a lot out of you.
Having worked in strip clubs prior to this, Megan said that OnlyFans was less draining than working in a club because you can do it at any time of day, as well as claiming that her online subscribers were 'shockingly polite'.
“They are much kinder than people are in real life. On Instagram, I have some incel ‘friends’ who write horrendous things just to provoke a reaction.
“It’s really fun to ignore them because you know they are desperate for attention and I’ve been using it to inform my writing.
“I’m in a much more privileged position than some others in the sex industry but for me, it takes away the stress of paying bills and allows me to have the energy to be creative.”
Megan, a former professional bodybuilder, also admitted she found it frustrating that making a living from stripping could be so damaging to a female actor's career, but not for men.
She said: "I didn’t say anything about the fact that I was stripping for years because of the stigma that follows sex work, especially if you’re an actress.
“It’s potentially career-ruining for a woman - despite people loving Channing Tatum when he performed in a neon G-string in real-life.”
Elsewhere in the interview she also reveals that the experience of imitating sex on national television broke down some barriers for her when first starting out, and that the most stressful job she ever did was working at princess parties where she had to dress as a princess and perform for children.
