There's a song Eminem wrote about his late mother that he now refuses to perform which featured brutal lyrics about his childhood.
Last night (3 December) it was announced the rapper's mother had passed away at the age of 69 due to complications of lung cancer on Monday.
The news was confirmed to PEOPLE by Eminem's representative.

Eminem's complicated relationship with his mum
Eminem has had a tumultuous and complicated relationship with his mother, even releasing a diss-track back in 2002 which was specifically targeted towards Debbie.
Despite releasing 'Cleanin' Out My Closet' - in which he refers to Debbie as a 'selfish b***h' - Eminem has since said he regretted the song, which included allegations of abuse and drug taking.

In the track, he accuses his mother of ‘poppin prescription pills in the kitchen’, him being a 'victim of Münchausen's Syndrome' and saying she will never see his daughter Hailie Jade.
You can listen to the track below, but please note it includes very strong language.
Debbie hit back at the song, and actually filed a lawsuit, accusing him of slander and defamation.
Eminem speaks on his regret
It seems Eminem went on to hugely regret the track, penning a second song, titled 'Headlights' in which he raps: "But I'm sorry mama for 'Cleanin' Out My Closet,' at the time I was angry. That song I no longer play at shows, and I cringe every time it's on the radio."

He also acknowledges her efforts as a single parent, saying: "All you did, all you said, you did your best to raise us both."
While the track seemed to mark a turning point, the rapper didn't shy away from discussing his childhood and the difficulties he faced, revealing how he was kicked out on Christmas Eve and his young brother Nathan, was taken into foster care.
He continued: “But ma, I forgive you, so does Nathan yo.
"Foster care, that cross you bare, few may be as heavy as yours.”

Rounding off the heartfelt apology, he said: “But I love you Debbie Mathers, oh what a tangled web we have.
"And I’m mad I didn’t get the chance to thank you for being my mom and my dad.”
The rapper - real name Marshal Mathers - is yet to comment publicly about his mother's death, however his younger brother Nate shared his opinion.
