People are flooding to social media to give their well wishes to The Pogues star Shane MacGowan who is currently in hospital.
The lead singer and songwriter for Celtic band has been in and out of hospital in recent years, confirming in January 2023 that he has a rare and life-threatening brain condition called encephalitis which causes the brain to swell.
However, it is unclear why he is in hospital at this time.

While not confirming the exact reason he's currently in hospital, Clarke told the outlet: "He is still in hospital but he is doing well and being looked after. I didn’t want to worry people.
"He is out of the ICU and doing well."
Alongside being diagnosed with encephalitis, MacGowan has previously ended up in hospital as a result of falling over while dancing and breaking his pelvis in 2015.

The accident saw him end up having to use a wheelchair.
He was also admitted to hospital in December 2022 to be treated for an infection.
It's been a tough journey for both Clarke and MacGowan, with Clarke speaking out about the 'turbulence' on Instagram.
Last month, she wrote: "There has been a lot of turbulence in my life recently and it’s been very emotional and also scary but this past few days I have noticed that even though there’s a LOT of fear there is also a huge amount of love.
"[...] Thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting me and @shanemacgowanofficial."
