Stacy from ‘Stacy’s Mom’ music video lives incredibly different life now 22 years later

Fountain of Wayne's song 'Stacy's Mom' is almost certainly the most popular tune about a child who has the hots for his friend's mother and reckons he could be the new man in her life.

The premise of the song might sound a bit weird but the success is undeniable, it was the band's biggest hit and the single went on to sell hundreds of thousands of copies while it's been played time and time again over the radio and on people's party playlists.

In the music video for 'Stacy's Mom' we see the young boy (Shane Haboucha) always going round to Stacy's (Gianna Distenca, now Dispenza) house so he can spend time with her mother (Rachel Hunter).

It all ends with him going to her bathroom to enjoy some private time while thinking about her before Stacy catches him and then starts laughing, though whether that's because she thinks it's funny or because she's flattered in the mistaken believe he was thinking about her is one for the musical philosophers to consider.

How did Gianna Distenca become famous?

By being Stacy from 'Stacy's Mom', of course.

The music video has racked up over 200 million views online and plenty of people will have seen it during the times it was shown on TV.

Even if Rachel Hunter in the role of Stacy's mum was the main star of the music video (as you'd expect, since the song is about her), Gianna Distenca was also in it plenty enough.

What's Gianna Distenca up to now?

According to IMDb, the only other performing credit for Distenca was in something called Senor Crab in 2007 so she didn't stay in acting.

Cosmopolitan reported that in 2013 she left the US and ended up living in Beirut, Lebanon, where she volunteered at a refugee camp for children and pursued art for a living.

These days she works as an artist, with her Instagram account showing a range of pieces she's worked on.

In her career, she's won awards for Best Emerging Artist and Best Figurative Artist, so evidently she's been doing rather well for herself in the creative world.

What about Stacy's mom?

The role of Stacy's mother in the music video was played by New Zealand model Rachel Hunter.

Afterwards she appeared in the first season of Dancing with the Stars and made a number of appearances in film and TV, including as a judge on New Zealand's Got Talent and RuPaul's Drag Race.
