Netflix viewers have exact same complaint about Shadow and Bone as Game of Thrones

The new season of Shadow and Bone is upon us, and fans can't wait to see all the action. Only, they have one complaint that's getting in the way.

The second series of the drama arrived on Netflix last week and quickly shot to the number one spot of the streamer's Top 10 TV shows in the UK, with fans all too excited to sink their teeth into eight juicy new episodes.

The latest instalment sees the return of Jessie Mei Li, Ben Barnes, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter and many others as it continues to follow Alina Starkov (Mei Li) and the extraordinary power which could change her world.

Fans have been forced to wait almost two years for the show to make a comeback; time which, naturally, would have only built their desire to see every little detail the new episodes have to offer. 'See' being the operative word.

Unfortunately, it seems the new season took the 'Shadow' part of its title a bit too seriously, because fans have taken to Twitter to complain that the show is far too dark to properly enjoy.

I'd suggest the show should just be called 'Bone' and let the shadows in the show do the talking, but a programme with that title is probably going to be about something else entirely.

Anyway, after hitting play on the new series, one frustrated viewer wrote: "Shadow and Bone dark af I can’t see anything."

Another agreed, writing: "Why did they make this show so dark. I've got curtains closed, can still barely see it."

This isn't the first time a show has been blasted for its failure to turn up the brightness, as fans of the Game of Thrones franchise will probably know all too well.

Last year, the HBO spin-off show House of the Dragon came under fire for the exact same reason, with one viewer writing: "This new House of the Dragon episode seems good, wish they'd spent some of that dragon money on lighting so I could actually see anything."

The original Game of Thrones series has also faced similar criticism in the past, with one viewer complaining that 'Game of Thrones is too dark like physically'.

It didn't take long for Shadow and Bone viewers to notice the similarities between the two dim TV shows, with one suggesting the new series 'took notes' from Game of Thrones as they claimed 'some scenes were too dark to watch during daylight'.

I'd suggested whacking up the brightness on your TV, phone or laptop, but if you don't fancy that, it looks like you'll just have to wait until nighttime to try and see the show in all its glory.
