A fan of Netflix’s biggest show right now, Black Doves, appears to have answered questions that Netflix viewers had about a massive twist in the show.

The series stars Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire, and follows Knightley as Helen.

Helen is a spy, married to a government minister, and her cover is blown when her affair partner is killed.

The show has been a massive hit for the streamer, which renewed it for a second season before it even aired.

This was vindicated by nearly two weeks at the top of the UK charts, over a week at the top of their global charts, and rave reviews.

Spoilers ahead for Black Doves

A core plot point of the show is the murder of a Chinese ambassador.

Though this is introduced as merely a small side-plot, it ends up factoring into the main story when it is revealed that her late affair partner was somehow involved.

In a shocking twist, it is later revealed that the British government was also involved in the cover up surrounding the ambassador’s death, supporting the US.

One fan on Reddit was unsure on aspects of this, asking: “Not sure I really buy the plot, and there was a lot of dithering/padding I could have done without. But I have two questions:

(1) Most of all: Why the hell was the prime minister trying to cover up that the death of the Chinese ambassador was an accident? It makes no sense to me. Am I missing something?

(2) Why was everyone so keen to get hold of the ambassador's daughter? She didn't know anything. She had no value to anyone.”

The most upvoted comment, which had other fans chiming in to say they made ‘great points’ cleared up these questions that many viewers would have had.

They responded saying: “The first impression was that there ambassador was killed on foreign soil, an act of war.

“They would immediately use that to put pressure on the British or even blackmail them for certain contracts, as they later tried to.

“The Americans and the British both had assets there, the first guy (CIA) was filmed leaving the scene, the other guy (the guy Keira was cheating with) who got sniped on the bench was MI5!

“They didn't want the Chinese to know they were being watched and had people that close to the ambassador.

“The daughter was missing and they at first presumed she might be held for ransom or as a bargaining chip for negotiations. The others like Hector thought she was valuable.”

Well there you have it, if you were watching and asking these same questions about the twist, r/rampzn has answered them for you.
