Dead Premier League footballer’s secret wife speaks out about ‘heads spinning’ Netflix documentary

Dead Premier League footballer’s secret wife speaks out about ‘heads spinning’ Netflix documentary

Helia Sahimi, the footballer's second wife, hit back at Netflix for their 'editing'

The secret wife of a Premier League footballer who died in a car crash six years ago has spoken out about a new documentary made about his life and death.

The Netflix doc, The Footballer, His Wife, and the Crash, was first broadcast in ITV in 2022 and has since hopped on the streaming platform.

The documentary explores the life of the former Premier League footballer Jlloyd Samuel, who played for the likes of Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers, until his untimely death in 2018.

According to reports and as shown in the doc, his body was burnt to the point that dental records were required to identify him, and then the secrets started spilling out afterwards.

It was only after his death that Jlloyd’s wife, Emma, would discover that while he was in Iran, he'd got married to another woman and that she'd actually met her too.

It was when Emma had gone to see Jlloyd in Dubai, he introduced her to a ‘fortune teller’, but it was actually his second wife.

Since then, Helia Sahimi, the second wife in question has caused a stir after speaking out about the documentary - having previously admitting that she believes her late husband is still alive.

Initially, when she was contacted during production of The Footballer, His Wife, and the Crash, she said: "I believe my husband is still alive."

This sentiment was echoed by Jlloyd's sister, Leslie-Ann Samuel, who claimed that he wasn't behind the wheel of the Range Rover at the time of the crash, leading her to believe that his death had been faked.

She claims that DNA requests have been denied due to his wife Emma owning the samples.

However, dental records found that the body within the car was in fact Jlloyd.

But now she has taken to Instagram to hit back at the documentary which she claims to have only agreed to participate in to ‘uncover the truth’ of the accident.

She said in a series of videos talking about the production: “Hello everyone, I’m Helia. If you have been with me since the accident of my husband, Jlloyd Samuel six years ago, this video and a few more that I will upload in the coming days are for you.

“But if you haven’t seen all the posts from that time and are not aware, don’t waste your precious moments watching this video and just skip this post.

“Two years ago I was invited to participate in a documentary about J’s life as his wife, which was only broadcast in England. I knew there were only two possibilities: either it would be a real and fair documentary that could help uncover the truth, or it would turn into a biased film showing whatever they wanted!”

She went on to say that she had ‘made it clear in the contract that they must show me the final edited version of the documentary before I would give permission to broadcast my footage’.

Sahimi went on the say that Netflix edited out her comments about her husband being alive and that ‘key statements were not included’, citing that they removed her comments regarding ‘facts about the accident’ which included a piece of paper in the car which was not burned, his phone being turned on but nobody knowing where it was and his unidentifiable body.

She continues her theories on her page, which is dedicated to her late husband.
