"There is a pretty significant plot-hole in the final act that I can’t quite shake, but otherwise Hell or High Water sticks its landing," another added.
"Robbing Banks was very 1800s; robbing by banks was very 2010s," a third critic said.
"I'm not sure Jeff Bridges makes a bad film anymore, but if he does, he is usually the bright spot. True to form, he plays his character well," a fourth thought.

"Robbing robber banks in Hell or High Water makes it a post-Occupy Neo-Western. Pine, Foster, and Bridges kill it. Apropos again in 2022, with rumours of account-freezing by banks circulating," another aded.
With a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer and an 88 percent audience score, the David Mackenzie-led film grossed a reported $27million at the USA Box Office.
The moody crime drama also earned four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor.

However, as always, not everyone rated the film so highly.
"It can work well in a film like True Grit, but here, in the absence of great material, it can seem like a surface-level attempt to get something out of a very one-note character," one viewer thought.
"The lead duo are hugely unsympathetic, while their motives are slight and unfulfilling - making their high-stakes endeavors far less than suspenseful," someone else said.
But, you can make your mind up for yourself as the flick is streaming on Netflix now.
