Horrifying details of why Mike Tyson pulled out of first Jake Paul fight have been revealed

Mike Tyson revealed the horrifying details of what led to him pulling out in a new Netflix documentary

A new Netflix documentary on the build-up to the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has revealed the horrifying details of why the former heavyweight boxing champion pulled out of the originally scheduled bout.

The Netflix doc, titled Countdown: Paul vs Tyson, A Documentary Series, might not be the snappiest title of all time, but it has still captivated viewers, shooting to second on the streamer’s charts, and sitting at the top spot over the weekend.

The pair will fight this Friday, November 15, at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Despite this, Tyson, who is 58, was forced to pull out of the originally scheduled bout between the two earlier this year.

At the time, the main detail released was that the former lineal heavyweight champion had suffered a medical emergency on a plane.

His representatives claimed he began to feel ‘nauseous and dizzy’ due to an ulcer flair up, with Tyson later taking to X to reassure fans and say he felt ‘100%’.

This caused the originally scheduled fight in July to fall apart between Tyson and former Disney star and influencer Jake Paul.

In the new documentary, however, Tyson reveals the horrifying details of what actually happened, stating he worried he was ‘going to die’.

He said: “A week and a half ago I was training and I was doing great but then all of a sudden I started feeling tired.

“I was explaining to my trainer, 'I don't know what's wrong with me'.

“Coming here from Miami on the plane, I went to the bathroom, and I threw up blood. The next thing I know I'm on the floor, I was defecating tar.

“So, I came here, and they found I had a big ulcer, two-and-a-half inches, and it was bleeding. All my friends were calling me like I was dying.”

The boxer was then forced to pull out, and stated he lost 26 pounds as a result of the incident.

Tyson continued, saying: “I asked the doctor if I was going to die, and she didn't say no. She said we have options though, and that's when I got nervous.

“I can't wait to get out of this motherf**ker, man. God, I want to fight and start training.

"I don't want to die in the hospital bedroom, I want to die in the ring.”

Despite this, Tyson agreed to a rescheduled bout with Jake Paul just four months on from the incident.
