Seeing money going out of your account every month is never exactly a good feeling – even if it’s something you signed up to pay for.
But it’s really taking the mick if that amount pouring out of your funds suddenly changes without you realising it’s happening.
And that’s what's happening to a whole load of Netflix users as people’s accounts started changing over to a different plan. But what’s really got to them is the change in their binging experience while they sit back to take in their favourite shows.

Fans were left fuming as the streaming site have started to bump some users onto its ad-based subscription plan. Towards the end of last year, Netflix began warning its customers that its typical basic plan would be disappearing.
Priced at £6.99 a month, the streaming giant’s fourth quarter report revealed it was looking to ‘phase out’ the cheap plan.
The usual basic plan didn’t include ads, and customers that wanted to remain ad-free would have to up their monthly payment to a minimum of £10.99 a month.

This Basic option was removed previously for new subscribers, but Netflix allowed existing account holders to carry on paying for it.
However, that now seems to have changed and users have been getting emails that very soon, their accounts will automatically switch.
Thankfully, they won’t suddenly have to pay more cash and will actually be paying less but it does mean they’ll have adverts as part of their viewing experience.
Priced at £4.99 a month, the Standard with adverts plan gives those customers a decent saving in their payments, but they’ll have to decide if it’s worth no longer being ad-free.

Users on X said they’d rather ‘pass’ than having to pay more money to carry on their Netflix subscription without adverts.
Another agreed: “We've been quite loyal @netflix subscribers until now, going weeks or even months without watching, but still paying our subscription which we were happy to do at the old price.
“But we don't want to watch ads, and there is a lot of competition out there.”

Others said they’ve ‘cancelled the whole thing’ rather than forking out more money for ads as one said: “I signed up to them to get away from ads!”
Another slammed: “I tried Netflix with ads for a month and I couldn't stand it. It's so frustrating.”
It’s worth noting that users do have the choice between options, of course, but it seems people have simply had enough.
