It’s October and it’s nearly Halloween... which means it’s horror movie season.
And if you’re not heading to cinema for your scare fix with Saw X or The Exorcist: Believer, maybe you’re opting to be terrified from the comfort of your own home.
So, here’s a scary suggestion for you, a new Netflix series that’s been branded as a masterpiece.
You might have noticed this one while doom scrolling through the site’s latest releases, and it’s been loved by a lot of horror fans.

Released yesterday (12 October) The Fall of the House of Usher is a new drama inspired by an Edgar Allan Poe story.
The Netflix synopsis of the eight-part series reads: “From Mike Flanagan, the creator of The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, a wicked horror series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
“Ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power.
"But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.”

With Flanagan’s direction alongside Michael Fimognari, the series is produced by Trevor Macy and features the likes of Bruce Greenwood, Carla Gugino, Mark Hamil, Carl Lumbly and Mary McDonnell.
And since The Fall of the House of Usher was released yesterday, horror fans have been binging the whole thing.
Some have called it Flanagan’s ‘best work yet’, which is high praise considering his impressive credits.

Another wrote: “This newest series of his is more violent and bloodier than his previous works, but it’s GOOD!!!”
One even put: “This honestly is better than the last few seasons of AHS! I was seriously missing some weird, sexual, horror, craziness!”
