Netflix viewers are begging for a second season of a new action drama which has a near perfect Rotten Tomatoes score to boot.

Take a look at the trailer below:

The Heitor Dhalia-led series is filmed near the border of Brazil and Paraguay and has been hailed as an 'epic cops-and-robbers action thriller'.

The new eight-part action police series tells the surprising story of federal police officers who use DNA traces to dismantle the world's largest bank robbery gang.

And Federal officer officer Benício (Rômulo Braga) and a team of investigators are put to work using DNA evidence to find over 50 men involved in a crime.

Inspired by real crimes, the Netflix series - written by Bernardo Barcellos - features Rômulo Braga, Maeve Jinkings, and Thomás Aquino.

"Benício is difficult to work with, has no partner, and is known for going rogue during investigations," Netflix TUDUM explains.

"It’s not without reason: Three months ago near the border of Paraguay and Brazil, his partner was killed during a mass prison break.

"So when a group of gangs commit an armed heist in Paraguay, Benicio thinks he might know who’s behind it: Sem Alma, the man who allegedly murdered his partner.

"When he’s teamed up with a new partner, Suellen, the two band together to solve the case — and are determined to engage in whatever off-the-books methods it takes.

"Meanwhile, officers from both sides of the border zero in on robber after robber using any means at their disposal, even scant DNA found in the gangs’ abandoned vehicles."

If you're already sold, the series itself is titled Criminal Code.

And with a near perfect 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems that viewers are already itching for more.

"Criminal Code on Netflix is sooo good! Binged the whole 8 episodes in a day & a half. They need a second season ASAP," one person tweeted.

"Criminal Code is the best heist series I've watched since Money Heist," another added.

"Criminal Code on Netflix is GREAT TV," penned a third.

"As good as Narcos!" someone else said.

Well, it seems that viewers have got what they are wishing for as Netflix Brazil took to social media this week to announce that season two is indeed in the works.

"So proud of my first Brazilian police action series. Criminal Code is renewed for a 2nd season,” the translation of their tweet reads.

Season one of Criminal Code is available to watch on Netflix now.
