Horror fans obsessed with ‘11/10’ mind-bending masterpiece called the ‘best Netflix show ever’

Netflix fans said the show was gripping from beginning to end

Horror fans have deemed a cult classic show the 'best Netflix has ever made', with fans breaking their rating scales to declare it an '11/10' drama.

Nowadays, Netflix is full of heaps of underrated shows. Whether it be its deep catalogue of true crime documentaries, hit new (literal) cult dramas like Sirens, or bizarre live shows such as John Mulaney’s, in which he recently fought three teenagers, the streamer is full of options.

What people are often looking for, however, is that one Netflix show that they stick on and are suddenly unable to pry their eyes away from the screen.

This mind-bending series has been described exactly like that, and has left fans begging for a fourth season for years.

Called Dark, the German Netflix series was recently brought up in a Reddit debate about the 'best horrors' around.

One fan responded saying: “The Netflix TV series Dark is super heavy… makes you think. It’s dark (of course), moody, spook.

“It can be mind-boggling at times… but overall, I thought it was great.”

The series has 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes as well as a whopping average score of 8.7/10 on IMDb, placing it above classics like The Last of Us, Mindhunter, and Shameless.

Being a Netflix series better than Mindhunter is a lofty title, but reading through the reviews it’s clear to see why viewers rate Dark that highly.

One 10/10 review on IMDb, titled ‘Wish I could give this 11/10’, very matter-of-factly simply said: “This show is the best thing Netflix has done. It is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling.”

Another popular 10/10 review called it an ‘engaging masterpiece from start to finish’, before going on to say: “Insanely good, every episode shocks you in ways you never thought was possible. The constant gripping revelations were so unexpected but tied the story so well together.

“This show has revolutionised time travel storytelling and is definitely one of the most smartly and consistently written shows of our time.”

Dark follows two children who go missing in a small German town, with their disappearance leading to revelations and a bizarre mystery.

The series was similarly beloved by critics as fans, and clearly gets better as it goes on.

Dark has three seasons, all available to watch on Netflix, and season two has a perfect 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with the final season earning a convincing 97 percent.

Lawrence Ware, of the New York Times, compared it to a beloved show in their review, saying it was far better than Stranger Things - a common comparison for Dark.

He said: “Dark, the German time-travel thriller, is often compared to the Duffer Brothers' nostalgia trip [Stranger Things]. But in its second season, its ambitions are closer to The Wire.”

As comparisons go, being similar to The Wire, better than Mindhunter, and so good a 10/10 doesn’t do it justice is about as good as it gets.

Dark is available to stream on Netflix now.
