Set to release later this month, a new drama starring Stephen Graham has been described as the ‘most terrifying show’ that will ‘horrify parents’.
Each of the four episodes is filmed in one continuous shot, so the drama will be heightened for viewers as the storyline unfolds in real time.
Co-written by Graham and Jack Thorne, it’s directed by Philip Barantini who used a similar one-shot style in Boiling Point which also starred the scouse legend.

Adolescence follows a family as their worlds are turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl.
Speaking at Next on Netflix back in January, Graham explained the idea for the series came about after seeing ‘an epidemic of knife crime amongst young lads up and down the country’.
He said it ‘just really hit me hard’ as he discussed it with Barantini.

“I just thought, why? What's going on? What's happening? Why is this the case? What's going on with our society as a whole, as a collective?
“And without being disrespectful, when these things are on the news - and we’re a couple of kids from council estates - but when these things are on the news, your judgement instantly goes to blaming the family, you blame the mum and dad.
“We’re all guilty of it, because that's the easy common denominator. I just thought, ‘What if that's not the case at all?’”

With such a hard-hitting story at its core, and an impressive cast including Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters, Faye Marsay and Mark Stanley, there has understandably been a whole load of hype for Adolescence.
And it seems to be living up to that already.
Stuart Heritage described the first few minutes as ‘among the most incredible you will ever see’ in The Guardian.
Reflecting Graham’s point about how parents are often blamed, Adolescence removes these possibilities and ‘takes us somewhere even more terrifying’.

Heritage believes the drama ‘will horrify all parents’ as he added: “Adolescence is set to be a cultural touchpoint for young masculinity for years to come. What an astonishing thing these people have made.”
As the trailer was shared on social media, users said it looks ‘intense’ and ‘harrowing’ as some admitted they’re not sure they have ‘the stomach’ to watch.
Plenty said they ‘definitely will be watching’ while many agreed: “It’s a guaranteed banger if Stephen Graham is in it."
