Season four will be the first in the show without Henry Cavill, who left the Netflix hit series after season three to pursue other projects.

Liam Hemsworth was cast to replace the former Man of Steel star, and will continue in the role of Geralt.
Whilst the show was initially planned to run for seven seasons, Netflix have confirmed that season five will be the show's last.
The show was a hit success for Netflix, after the first season came out in 2019.
Considered a faithful retelling of the books which were turned into a hugely popular game series, the second and third season were met with progressively less interest.

The trailer begins with so much similarity to previous seasons you could almost have expected Henry Cavill to turn around.
With his horse roach in tow, Geralt walks - as he does - through a creepy bog.
When Hemsworth turns around to reveal his look as the iconic white haired monster hunter though, he definitely looks the part.

Despite this, fans are simply not convinced.
Responding to the trailer on X (formerly known as Twitter), one fan said: "Not my Witcher. But I feel sorry for Liam Hemsworth. Even if it's good, it's going to get shredded online."
Another said: "New Geralt, same writers. Hard pass."

Whilst Henry Cavill has never confirmed the exact reason he left the show, rumours widely state that it is due to conflicts with writers.
In an interview with Philippine Star in 2021, Cavill expressed a struggle to achieve a 'balance between the showrunners' vision and [his] love for the books.'
He went on to say: "The things that I pushed for, it was not necessarily just more dialogue. It was bringing a more book-accurate Geralt to the screen".
The show runners, meanwhile, appear to have similarly found Cavill less than easy to work with.

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich spoke about Henry Cavill's persistence in trying to get the role when he heard a show was in the works.
She said he was 'really annoying', adding that she told Cavill: “I will meet with you. The show is not green-lit. There is nothing. Thank you. Now I have to go write the show.”
Whilst it's unclear if there is any love lost between Cavill and the writers, he has publicly supported Hemsworth taking over the role.
Cavill posted a statement on social media saying:
“Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
