With the first season of House of the Dragon finally coming to an end this week, many fans are excited about what will come in the following instalments.
There was a lot of build up to the final episode and we can expect a lot of bloodshed and carnage when the HBO show returns for the second season.
As fans twiddle their thumbs until more is revealed, some have started calling for Henry Cavill to be cast in the series.

Some have even suggested he play an iconic Targaryen.
When you look at the majority of the comments on social media, it's clear that Cavill's role in The Witcher, where he portrays a character named Geralt, is the main reason for the fan campaign.
It seems that because Geralt has white hair, similar to that of a Targaryen, he must be perfect for the series.

Those who want to see the Mission: Impossible star in House of the Dragon want him to play Aegon the Conqueror.
That character in George R.R. Martin's universe has been described as he 'first Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and king on the Iron Throne, having conquered six of the Seven Kingdoms during the Conquest'.
He's also 'the founder of the ruling Targaryen dynasty of Westeros', helped build King's Landing and the Red Keep, and forged the Iron Throne from the swords of his enemies.
He married his two sisters, Rhaenys and Visenya, and they had three dragons: Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes.

You might remember Vhagar as the dragon that chewed up poor Lucerys Velaryon in the final episode of House of the Dragon.
Aegon is also the character who has the prophecy that is passed down each generation of the Targaryen family.
In the first episode of House of the Dragon, Viserys (Paddy Considine) explained to his daughter about how their dynasty is connected to the events in Game of Thrones.

Viserys explained Aegon’s dream that led him to conquest the Seven Kingdoms.
It was a dream in which he 'foresaw the end of men' and 'the beginning of a terrible winter'.
Viserys tells Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock): “When this great winter comes, all of Westeros must stand against it."
He adds: “Aegon called his dream A Song of Ice and Fire.”

Martin's first book in the Game of Thrones series is called A Song of Ice and Fire.
It would be incredible to see the writers incorporate Aegon the Conqueror's story into the House of the Dragon plot and who better to do it than Henry Cavill?
