Viewers are convinced that a viral clip from the BBC quiz show Pointless shows the moment a friendship was ‘destroyed’ after a contestant gave a wrong answer.
Pointless, which is hosted by Alexander Armstrong, airs every weekday on BBC One. The game show sees pairs of contestants providing obscure answers to a number of surveyed questions.
In an episode from 2017, friends Sarah and Mariam took part and they were asked to name a country which ends in two consonants.

Sarah, who said she studied Geography at A Level, was unfortunately unable to give a correct answer because she was ‘having a blank’.
She admitted that she ‘couldn’t think of anything’, much to the dismay of her partner, Mariam, who was visibly unimpressed when Sarah bravely tried to give 'Paris' - the capital city of France which doesn’t end in two consonants - as an answer.
With that being said, we all have our moments when our minds go blank. As many people know, that answer is completely wrong but good for Sarah for at least trying during the tense moment.

Possible answers included Bangladesh, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Marshall Islands, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Swaziland, Switzerland, Thailand and Vatican City.
"Don't worry, don't worry at all. I mean REALLY don't worry," Armstrong said. "I wouldn't be at all surprised if there aren't several 100-scorers in this round."
Unlike Lady Gaga, Mariam did not have a poker face and social media had a field day at the time watching the awkward exchange.
“Dear followers, get off to a good start to 2017 and watch the end of a friendship,” one viewer tweeted shortly after the episode aired. “Thank you #pointless. Thank you.”

Another shared the hilarious clip and tweeted: “Saw this on #bbc #pointless earlier… She did A-Level Geography and said Paris is a country… The schools are failing!”
While a third wrote: “Friendship destroyed on Pointless as contestant gives worst answer of all time and her mate is rag.”
Someone else said: “Mariam and Sarah getting knocked out in the first round on #pointless one of them saw it coming…”

“Her mate is FUMING!” one person wrote in response to the scene.
While another viewer re-shared the clip of the false answer and wrote: “When [your] teammate that did A-level Geography thinks Paris is a country.”
Sadly, because of Sarah's blunder, the pair lost out on a spot in the second round by a mere four points.
Better luck next time, folks!
