Liam Jones was celebrating big time after winning the LADbible Poker tournament on PokerStars earlier this month and landing himself a trip to Las Vegas.
The 31-year-old came top of the pile in the Pokerstars event, but in an act of goodwill has gifted the trip to his brother Anthony and his wife-to-be Aymi for their honeymoon.
However, he couldn't miss out on a trip of a lifetime and has also booked himself and his wife Kelsey a vacation to Sin City.
"I'm still going to go, but I gifted it to my brother and have paid for something slightly cheaper than what he's gone for. I wanted to give him the opportunity to go," said Jones.
"He's been going through a bit of bad time with work at the minute so I thought this would help him out. I could only take two people it would be a bit weird if I took my missus and him, so I gifted it to him so that he could take his missus on their honeymoon.
"Vegas is going to be unreal, and I have always wanted to go but I've been so busy and then Covid struck, and I have had a new-born baby too, so it's never really been a priority."
Jones is a poker regular, competing in a league at his local pub in Cheshire, but with that coming to an end, as soon as he heard about the LADbible Poker tourney and the chance to win a trip to Vegas, he couldn't resist the opportunity to give it his best shot.
"I always look for the standout tourneys like that, because I then pay more attention and I'm more focussed as there is a lot more at stake," he added.
"I am in a poker league in a pub and the biggest win I had before this was probably around £900, but that doesn't even come close to this!
"I hadn't used Pokerstars for a long time, but our poker season ended and some lads in the chat had seen this tournament highlighted and asked if anyone fancied having a go. I only bought in once as well, so it only cost me a £5 too!"
"I was leading the tournament for quite a long time and towards the end I had far more chips than anyone else so that helped massively. I really enjoyed the tournament, and winning it made it even better."
The LADbible Poker tournament returns this weekend on PokerStars with a £35,000 prizepool, and after his big win last time out, Liam is keen to give it another go and see if he can come out on top once again.
"I've gone back to PokerStars and played quite a bit since. I love my poker and I'll be entering this week again and hopefully this time it will be for some spending money for Vegas!" he added.
