What's the first thing you do when you win a lawsuit? For Depp, it's grabbing a pint in Newcastle.
Johnny Depp was spotted at the Bridge Tavern pub yesterday, having some pints with musicians Sam Fender and Jeff Beck as the verdict from his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard rolled in.
Heard was at the Virginia court when the jury found that what she had written in her 2018 op-ed piece for The Washington Post was defamatory against Depp.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star was awarded $15 million as a result while Heard, despite losing her case, was awarded $2 million.
Meanwhile, Depp was across the pond, grabbing a drink with the 'Hypersonic Missiles' singer where he also met rugby player Gary Spedding.
Janine Latchford who manages the pub has now shared what happened when the Pirates of the Caribbean star arrived.
Latchford told the Chronicle Live that Depp was keeping things low-key: "Johnny came in first, he was with some friends but he was quite cool. He didn’t want anyone to see who he was.
“We gave him a private space and he was the loveliest man I have ever seen in my life. My assistant is heavily pregnant and he was telling her how beautiful being a parent was. He was really down to earth, he was lovely.
“He was incredible. He gave me a hug and I told him that I loved him pretty much as soon as I saw him! He loved the artwork and he was asking questions about the Tyne Bridge. He said he’d never been to Newcastle before."
The 33-year-old added that Depp was having fish and chips, saying the 'food was amazing'.
That's not even the most surreal part because Fender soon came to join, with Latchford saying: "I don’t think Sam had met Johnny before. Johnny is doing a show tomorrow at The Sage. Whoever he was with must have known Sam Fender so they arranged to meet. Sam Fender came about half an hour later when the terrace was closed off.
“It was unbelievable for the pub, I have never seen anything like it before.
“It has been the most surreal day of my life without doubt! It’s insane.”
