People Are Very Worried About Jonathan In Stranger Things

Fans think the writing is on the wall for Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton)

The fourth season of Stranger Things dropped just under a week ago, and fans can’t stop speculating about what’s about to happen next.

Yes, people were that quick to binge volume one of the season, which is being released in two parts.

Fans are very worried, in particular, about Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton), and they’ve taken to Reddit to share their theories.

Jonathan is Will’s older brother, and he had a reduced role in the first volume of season four of the hit sci-fi show.

“Here’s what I’m thinking,” wrote one Reddit user. “Jonathan hasn’t done much other than be the protective big brother.

“I think Will is gonna come back to Hawkins, and be a buffet of trauma for Venca to ultimately possess. Jonathan will pull a Billy and sacrifice himself to save Will, and then Nancy and Steve will get together.”

A second agreed, adding: “I was thinking the exact same thing… he and his stoner friend are just comic relief and Jonathan is soon to be completely written out of the story somehow.”

However, Jonathan is not the only character that fans are worried about.

A third wrote: “Honestly, both Jonathan and Will could die. They have zero point as characters.”

Meanwhile, a fourth, agreed that the end is nigh for Jonathan.

“Agree completely.

“Character growth not progressing: check.

“Has become irrelevant to story: check.

“Preventing relationship from happening: check.

“If he dies saving Will or Nancy they can move on to shipping Steve and Nancy again without the drama of a regular breakup.

“I feel like the writing is on the wall.”

However, not every fan was so worried about Jonathan (and Will), and they shared why we will be seeing more of them.

“Steve is definitely dying,” one speculated. “I don't get what these people are saying, just because Will Mike and Jonathan don't have much focus right now doesn't mean they won't have in the future.

“They are all struggling with things, killing them now would feel random and it wouldn't make sense.”

The possibility of one of the original cast members being killed off has also been touched upon by the cast themselves.

In an interview alongside Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown told The Wrap: “We’re all afraid of one of us dying.”

Schnapp added: “One of us will die. Or more. The cast is so big.”

Brown had previously said she wanted the producers to get better at killing off characters.

“The Duffer Brothers are sensitive sallies who don’t want to kill anybody off,” she said.

“We need to have the mindset of Game of Thrones. Kill me off! They tried killing David off and they brought him back!”
