Many of us are oblivious to the real speed of planes because it's pretty much impossible to understand how fast you are travelling while you're in the air.
But now a video has captured exactly how fast we're going when we're cruising at 30,000 feet and it might just make you feel a little queasy next time you head on holiday.
There are already enough stresses associated with flying by plane, unless you're lucky enough to own a private jet, as you've got to remember the right size of suitcase to avoid fines, and ensure that your passport doesn't run out of date while you're abroad.
Given most people are worried about getting through security on time, it's easy to see why aviation companies aren't so keen on letting us know the speeds you travel at, as it might well put some people off when they realise just how fast they're going.

A video circulating on TikTok has now captured just how fast passenger jets are going, and it turns out that there is a scientific explanation behind why it feels much slower.
The feeling of going slow when you are doing the opposite is called the motion parallax. This is based on how quickly an object moves through our field of vision.
This video on TikTok shows off the motion parallax effect perfectly, as it features a Boeing 737, which has the impressive ability to accelerate to 545mph.
While this seems incredibly fast when you consider most of us go at 40 on our way to work, it's actually not that fast in aeronautical terms, as high-performance fighter jets like the MiG-25 can reach Mach 3.2, which is well above 2,000 mph. Ideal if you're running a little late.

The supersonic jet Concorde, which had its first flight in 1969, is capable of a cruising speed of just over 1,340mph, allowing it to complete Atlantic crossings in record times.
But even at a mere 500mph, the plane in the video is still going extraordinarily fast, which seems remarkable if you ever just absent-mindedly stare at the clouds when you're lucky enough to have a window seat on your flight.

Hopefully this doesn't put you off flying, as it's still the best way to get around the world, until teleportation is invented at least.
It's also not just the speeds of the plane which we don't understand, as many people also question where our waste goes when we flush the toilet at 30,000 feet, and often the answer isn't pretty, with one unsuspecting man falling particularly foul when it was dumped in his front garden.
