The server suggested that her tip was taken away for referencing a note which was left on their reservation.
"My table just said, 'you lost your tip' bc I said 'happy anniversary!'" she explained, clarifying that the note was indeed 'written on the reservation'.
Over in the comments, however, viewers were left pretty divided by the couple's actions.

"I don’t understand why the server would lose her tip for saying 'Happy Anniversary'. Can someone explain?" one person wrote underneath the video which now has over 120,000 likes.

"What’s wrong w what you said? I’m confused," a second agreed.
While a third penned: "I’m so over people thinking it’s OK to eat out and not tip your server.
"All restaurants need to charge 20 percent gratuity."
Offering an alternative solution, someone else said: "If a table says 'you just lost your tip' and you’re still serving them. Stop. They just lost their service."
Another noted just how difficult it is to earn a decent living in the hospitality industry in America, adding: "We make $4.74/hr and rely on people’s good graces for a living. If you don’t want to tip, don’t eat out please."
Meanwhile, others still simply don't understand the concept of tipping, as one person wrote: "Tipping is weird to me. Why is the owner getting free labour??"

Another ranted that it is 'not our job to pay restaurant owners' bills for them'.
A couple others, instead, said that they will still tip their waiters, even if the service is really bad.
"Service could be awful but I still tip something. Last night I had the worst service. She never came back to refill our drinks. Every time I tried to flag her down she went somewhere else," someone else said.
As a second added: "We went out to eat as a family just last week and our waitress was rude, forgot parts of our order and tried to overcharge us for the things that never even made it to our table.
"We still tipped her, because maybe she was having an off evening or maybe she's really stressed because life is super expensive right now? We don't know?"
