‘Sploshing’ is the new bedroom trend that’s taking over the internet

Sploshing is a sexual kink or fetish that can take many forms.

A new bedroom trend - known as ‘sploshing’ - could be the bit of 'spice' your relationship needs.

Or it could just leave you with a lot of washing up to do.

If you don't know what we're on about, watch below:

To understand what Sploshing means, you first need to understand where the strange-sounding term came from.

Lana Holmes, a psychologist at Onward and Outward Center for Inclusive Therapy and Wellness, has revealed all.

According to the expert, the term 'Splosh' started gaining traction when a magazine of the same name came out in 1989.

Splosh! wouldn't just cover Sploshing - but all other types of fetishes, mostly those which are classed as wet and messy (WAM).

It later transitioned into a video production website.

Since then, it's popularity has only grown. Last year, it was reported the hashtag spolshing had over seven million views on TikTok.

There are also active communities on Reddit, Instagram and X.

So, without further 'fondue', Sploshing is 'is a fetish in which people derive sexual arousal and pleasure from being covered in food products and beverages'.

"For some people, it’s very pleasurable, as well as liberating,” Holmes says.

Ayesha Hussain, co-creator of Pass The Porn and founder of The Violet, explains: "There are aspects of the mouth being a vessel that are inherently sexual.

"It opens, it’s moist, and when you get aroused, your mouth opens more and gets more lubricated."

If it sounds like you're kind of thing, you can really start where you want and when you want.

“It can be anything: spaghetti, cucumbers, chocolate, etc,” Ayesha says.

“Watch every movement, taste every smell, imagine their saliva accumulating, and go from there!”

Kink educator Darla Delour told Glamour: "It’s not about using vegetables as dildos, nor is it adding a splash of whipped cream to your body to spice things up in the bedroom."

Now, it's important not to kink shame people.

As long as it's consensual, legal and not breaking any major ethical boundaries then it's fair game.

However, sometimes it's difficult to find someone who will indulge in your interests.

A woman has discussed her Grinch fetish on Reddit and explained her struggle to get her boyfriend on board with the idea.

She revealed she is super into the creature who stole Christmas and has fantasised about one day getting into bed with it.

"I have a Grinch fetish. My boyfriend knows about this and for the most part, accepts it. He'll sometimes read the book to me to set the mood, or if he's really feeling kinky, he'll tell me 'You're a mean one'," she explained.

Sadly for the anonymous woman, her partner is only willing to take this obsession of hers so far.

"The thing is, I don't want to hear about the Grinch or listen to the Grinch or watch the Grinch. I want to be f**ked by the Grinch, and for the record, this is common among women," she explained.

"My boyfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him straight up.

"I told him to put on the greenest, silkiest Grinch costume he could find, kidnap me from my bed on Christmas Eve, and then ravage me in front of the Christmas tree."

Yep.
