Here is the baffling final 1% Club question which saw one very unlucky contestant miss out on the chance of winning the £100k jackpot.
Unless you're living under a rock, or don't have a TV licence, chances are that you're probably familiar with how The 1% Club goes.
Hosted by Lee Mack, the ITV gameshow sees contestants prove their smarts by answering a series of 'logic and common sense' questions which have been tested on the public.

Seasoned viewers will also be aware that it's very rare for a contestant to make it to the final round with the chance of winning the entire £100,000 prize pot, which is exactly the situation which one contestant found themselves in at the end of last night's (5 April) show.
The last person standing was a man named Steve, with Mack remarking: "It's at the full £100,000. It's quite unusual we get the full £100,000."

And with that, it was over the Steve to decide on whether or not to play it safe and go home with £10,000, or go for broke and attempt to secure all the cash.
For Steve, the allure of being the 'first person ever to win the full £100k' was too much and joked to Mack that 'you're only here once' before deciding to go for the big prize.

"I wasn't expecting that, I thought you were going to take the £10,000," Mack replied, before revealing the final stepping stone between Steve and whopping pile of cash.
Unfortunately for Steve, the gameshow gods were not shining down on him and he received an absolute dud of a question, which you can take a punt at below.
"What two letters replace the question marks," the final question read.
"TE times T equals MESSAGE. TO times IN equals POISON. E times ?? equals LEAVE."

What the hell is that?
Now, you can attempt to give it your best guess before scrolling down to read the answer below or, like me, give up and rejoice in the fact that your response to the question isn't hinging on whether or not you're about to be £100,000 richer.
Steve gave the question his best shot and locked in a final answer of 'NE' — an answer which tragically wasn't correct.
Mack then explained the correct answer was in-fact 'IT' and gave the following explanation as to why it was correct: "If you replace 'times' with 'X', you form words with the same meaning as the words on the right."
So 'TE times T' becomes 'TEXT', 'TO times IN' becomes 'TOXIN' and 'E times ??(IT)' becomes 'EXIT'.

So, good on Steve for even attempting to answer that one.
