Ever since Adolescence dropped on Netflix last week, viewers have been blown away by its brilliant acting and incredible filming, with all four episodes of the drama shot in a single take.
However, some viewers were left divided over the ending of the show, and how the storyline was wrapped up.
The series focuses on a 13-year-old boy named Jamie (played by first time actor, Owen Cooper) who is arrested in episode one and suspected of murdering classmate, Katie.

Adolescence follows the investigation around Katie's murder and the motive behind the heinous crime.
Cooper stars alongside Stephen Graham, who plays his father, Eddie. Meanwhile, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, and Faye Marsay also star.
After a gripping three episodes, the Netflix show concludes in episode four, which deals with the aftermath of what happened, a year on from Jamie's arrest.

The final episode begins with Graham's character, Eddie, celebrating his 50th birthday as best he can.
Driving in his van with his wife and daughter, he gets a call from Jamie, who explains he's changing his plea to guilty.
Meanwhile, later in the ep Eddie returns to Jamie's bedroom where he breaks down in tears and says: "I'm sorry, son.
"I should have done better."

While some viewers called episode four their favourite of the series, others were divided over the emotional conclusion.
For example, some were confused about whether Jamie was guilty, after he had insisted throughout that he hadn't 'done anything wrong'.

One person wrote on X: "Kinda disappointed by the ending of Adolescence, it feels like it's missing so much of the story, I wish it was perhaps longer or that the ending would show his trial."

While a second added: "Do we not find out what happens on Adolescence?! I’ve been left really empty. I’m so confused, surely episode 4 isn’t the last episode??"
Others simply couldn't stop praising the show, however, with someone else commenting: "Many rave about episode 3 with the psychologist, but I think episode 4 is the best one. Just highlighted how normal and even caring this family is, and how violence can still come from and disrupt such a home."

And another said: "That is without a doubt some of the finest acting I’ve ever seen.

"To film those harrowing scenes in one take is simply astounding. Stephen Graham episode 4 is mesmerising and left me in tears. Deserves every accolade going.
"Can’t recommend it enough."
Many viewers explained that some had missed the point of episode four, pointing out that it was intended to reveal the true and devastating aftermath on the family.
"The final episode of #Adolescence was SO important. Ppl was looking for a twist like the twist wasn’t in ep ONE. But to see how these things affect the FAMILY individually is SO important. I spent the whole time wondering if I could do it," one fan wrote.
