George Gilbert has shared his first post on social media since being removed from the Big Brother house.

On Wednesday (8 October), ITV announced that the 23-year-old actor - who'd entered the house on 30 September - had been removed for 'repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour'.

In Monday's episode, he was reprimanded by Big Brother for mocking the hand gestures and voice of 27-year-old LGBTQ+ rights activist Sam Ashby.

Then, while discussing the same-sex kiss in the 2022 Lightyear film with his fellow contestants, George claimed that gay relationships were being 'rammed down the throat' of viewers, and he’d previously clashed with his housemates for his views on homeless people, saying they should ‘stop deflecting responsibility’ by ‘turning to drugs’.

And according to The Sun, the final straw came after he allegedly made a comment which 'could be interpreted as antisemitic'.

“Everyone was absolutely disgusted," a source told the outlet. "Nobody could believe what he said - he was clearly out to shock people."

Following his removal, George said in a statement that he knew he 'went too far'.

"As a flag-bearer of freedom of speech, I never hesitate to discuss and question any topic regardless of how contentious it may be," he said. "Sadly, the boundaries of what is deemed offensive are subjective. And I evidently went too far this time by crossing their line one too many times.

"It is a shame that a specific debate could not be had and that it has had to end like this. Infamy, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me."

Taking to Instagram this evening (10 September), George shared a video of himself lying on a garden deck chair, reading the book 'The Jews of England'.

The novel, written in 1988 by Jonathan Romain, is said to explore the history of Jewish life in Britain from medieval times to the modern era.

"I was asking questions," he said in the clip. "I just want to know the truth, you know?"

Quoting Albert Einstein, he added in the caption: “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”

It comes after ITV said in their statement: "George was previously given several warnings for unacceptable language.

"Most were not broadcast as the language used was contrary to broadcast standards, but one was seen during Monday’s episode of Big Brother.

"Before entering the Big Brother house, the rules regarding language and behaviour are explained to all Housemates, and they receive training in respect, dignity and inclusion.

"Friday’s eviction will continue as planned – details of which will be explained during tonight’s episode of Big Brother: Late & Live."
