Celebs Go Dating expert reveals why spicy cruises have had huge boom

Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn spoke to LADbible on the ever-growing success of the spicy cruise industry

Sexpert and Celebs Go Dating star Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn has explained why the 'spicy cruise' industry is seeing a huge boom.

It seems like loads of people have been swapping their run-of-the-mill summer holiday for a salacious sail across the seven seas as of late.

It's hardly a new concept - however, the popularity of these kinds of trips has seriously piqued over the last 12 months or so.

As Celebs Go Dating returns to Channel 4 this week, the show's resident relationship expert Dr Tara tells LADbible all about the source of the explosion of spicy cruises that we've seen this year.

The adult-only voyages offer adventurous couples the opportunity to explore both the world and their sexual fantasies with other like-minded folk. Two birds, one stone style.

A host of couples who have already taken the plunge have been happy to share the details of their debauchery-filled cruises online too - offering guided tours and dishing the dirt on what really goes down onboard. The secrets of spicy cruises used to be kept closely guarded by partner-swapping passengers, however, people have become a lot more comfortable discussing their experiences publicly recently.

So, why have swingers started shouting about their sex-filled cruises from the rooftops all of a sudden? Well, Dr Tara believes it's all down to 'ethical non-monogamy' picking up some serious steam.

The California State University professor and relationship coach, 36, reckons that this modern dynamic has become increasingly popular among couples who want to spice up their sex life.

For those who don't know, ethical non-monogamy describes a relationship structure where all partners openly and consensually engage in multiple romantic or sexual situations with various different people.

Dr Tara herself is down for it, as she and her husband, Brent Estabrook, identify as 'monogamish' - meaning they can 'play sexually' with others, but remain emotionally devoted to one another. She previously suggested this way of life could be 'the answer to the divorce epidemic', adding that she finds it 'empowering' to allow her husband to have fun with others.

The Thailand-born TV star has now revealed why swinging on a moving vessel has become so trendy, explaining that spicy cruises are selling so well because there are now a lot more open-minded couples who are willing to rip up the relationship rule book and give something new a try.

On top of that, these risqué voyages are a step-up from traditional swingers parties, as they also come with the added perk of sunshine and travel.

"Ethical non-monogamy is on the rise and sex-positivity has been moving forward," Dr Tara tells LADbible. "It is becoming more popular.

"So I think with all of that combined, people are more likely to just share their experiences on these cruises," Dr Tara says while discussing why people aren't shy about announcing they've been on a spicy cruise.

"I think living that lifestyle has become so much less taboo because people are a lot more sex-positive. Another thing that is becoming a trend is going to play parties. A lot of people are going to play parties."

Although a spicy cruise might sound like the thrill you and your partner are desperate for, Dr Tara warns they're not suitable for everyone.

"I only recommend that people venture out and try these spicy cruises when they're in a healthy, stable, happy relationship," the Celebs Go Dating star says.

"When you're in a healthy and stable relationship, you can communicate all sorts - what do you expect? What are your boundaries? When you're in a struggling relationship, you really shouldn't be going anywhere except for therapy."

You can watch or stream Celebs Go Dating on Channel4.com from 11 August.
