The former Disney Channel actor was a class act on set, even as a child

Dylan Sprouse once refused to say a fat joke while filming an episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

The actor starred opposite his twin brother, Cole, on the hit Disney Channel show, which also had a spin-off called The Suite Life On Deck.

With the twins set to turn 32 on Sunday, it's easy to forget how prominent they were, as they took over screens for an entire generation.

A lot of stars get their big break through the children's TV channel, but a lot of times, they make mistakes in the early stages of their careers - which can often be learnt from.

Well, Dylan's on-screen Mum revealed that the actor did something very grown up when they were shooting their first show, that impresses her to this day.

Kim Rhodes, who plays the mother to Zack and Cody Martin, Carey Martin, told the story on the Back to the Best podcast.

She spoke about the powerful response he had to a joke in the script that was specifically aimed at her, considering he was just a child at the time.

Just 12-years-old when season one was released, Dylan passed up on a line repeatedly for a very wholesome reason, according to Rhodes.

"One of my favorite memories is Dylan had a line that was a fat joke, and he just kept skipping over it," she explained.

"It was like in the middle of a chunk of dialogue, so he kept skipping this laugh line and skipping it and skipping it and skipping it.

"And finally we get to [taping] in front of the studio audience and he skips it and the executive producer screams, 'Cut!... Dylan say the line'."

The clip has since gone viral on TikTok, as fans were glad to hear the kindness form the then-child actor.

Rhodes went on to say that usually, only the director says 'cut', so it was weird for the producer to cut in and end a scene.

She revealed that the joke came at a time when she was pregnant, and the show crudely 'dealt with it by making fat jokes'.

The actress said that his response to the executive producer was amazing though, as he apparently told the crew: "I would not disrespect any woman that way, let alone this woman.

"You write something funny and I'll say it."

What a hero.

Rhodes was so proud of her on-screen son for making sure that her character wasn't part of a lazy and insensitive punchline, she was beaming as she re-told the story.

The show aired on Disney Channel from 2005 to 2008, with its spin-off running from 2008-2011.

In the latter, there was a mention of a date in 2023, which fans couldn't believe came so fast, in an episode where the boys try to get a table at a popular restaurant in Italy.

They're told that they can dine on 16 November, 2023, as fans couldn't believe that it marked 15 years since that episode aired.
