Euphoria finale theory has fans convinced Rue is set to die after noticing key detail

Euphoria only has one episode to go of this season, and after a major character death in the penultimate episode fans think that another is coming in the season three finale.

The third season of Euphoria was long awaited, with a four year gap since season two’s release forcing the show to jump forward in time.

With the tragic death of Angus Cloud, unexpected A-List celebrity success of several members of the main cast, a writer’s and director’s strike, Euphoria season three has had an incredibly troubled road to TV.

This weekend however the season three finale releases and, based on key details in the teaser for the finale, fans on Reddit are convinced by a theory that suggests Rue is going to kick the bucket.

The possibility seems far more likely after the season’s penultimate episode saw another of the show’s A-List celebrities appear for the final time, with Jacob Elordi’s Nate Jacob biting the bullet in brutal fashion.

Jacob Elordi said of the death: “It’s a bittersweet thing, this show is a massive part of not just my career but my life, it’s been amazing and I’m so proud being a part of this.”

The season three finale has been billed as a ‘season finale’ but not a ‘series finale’. Lining up the schedules of the show’s massive stars, Zendaya, Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, even smaller names such as Colman Domingo, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie, was a major barrier to the show’s third season.

It would not be hugely surprising then if Zendaya joined Elordi in having their character written off so the show can continue with a fourth season without having to work around the schedule of one of the most booked and busy names in Hollywood.

The below video shows a preview for episode eight, with several speculating that it means Rue is going to die.

Many pointed out that, in the preview, Rue is shown back at home for the first time in season three.

In addition to this the previous episode made a point of her sponsor, Colman Domingo’s Ali, talking about his ‘book’ where he keeps the names of sponsees who have died.

One of the top comments on YouTube said: “Rue’s back at home?? Yeah her name definitely going in Ali’s book.”

Another on Reddit posted a picture of her at home, saying: “Rip Rue she didn't stand a chance this whole season it was bad decision after bad decision.”

A second Reddit fan replied saying: “Yeah, that’s definitely a death march if I’ve ever seen one.”

Others however suggested that she would instead get a Goodfellas-style ending where she goes into witness protection, with one comment saying: “They're hinting so hard that Rue dies that I think she'll live and get the same ending Ray Liotta's character in Goodfellas did - living in Witness Protection is some bumfuck town in the middle of nowhere.”

A second comment said: “Genuinely hoping Rue goes into witness protection. It would be really tragic (although unfortunately, realistic) if her journey ends in tragedy. I hope her arc ends with some hope. She gets a new identity, moves away, finally starts all over on her road to redemption. The end.”
