Warning: This article contains spoilers for Euphoria season three.

Sydney Sweeney signed off the final season of Euphoria with one last controversial scene - and fans couldn't believe their eyes.

Her character, Cassie Howard, has become synonymous with sexually-charged scenes, but one moment in the last episode of season three might have just taken the biscuit.

Which is saying something, given that viewers have watched Sweeney cosplaying as a baby, dressing up like a dog and going fully nude on screen over the last few weeks.

The final episode of the hit HBO show, which is rumoured to be the end of the road for Euphoria, aired on Sunday (31 May).

Viewers said goodbye to Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, earlier in the season after he met a grisly end in a coffin with a venomous snake - and last night, fans saw Rue meet her tragic fate.

Zendaya's character was killed after taking some painkillers laced with fentanyl that Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) gave to her, and it's safe to say this moment left people reeling.

Sweeney's closing scenes had a similar effect on Euphoria fans - but for a very different reason.

In the finale episode, we see how the OnlyFans model intends to keep Nate's death a secret, while we also see her having a serious conversation with her sister.

Her sibling Lexi (portrayed by Maude Apatow) is pouring her heart out about the guilt she feels for the way things ended between her and Rue.

Conversation then turned to the Bible, as Lexi pours over the pages of Rue's version of it, saying: "It's kind of incredible, actually. You'd think it would be boring, but there's a lot of violence and sex."

But viewers were left a bit distracted during this exchange, as Cassie was constantly waving a dildo around throughout it.

Sweeney's character can be seen using the sex toy to make gestures while talking to Lexi, while she also sits there stroking it.

Given the context of the conversation at hand, people reckon that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson might have officially gone too far by including this 'weird as f**k' moment.

Taking to X to share their complaints, one fan branded it 'sick', saying: "Sam Levinson is really using the holy bible in sexual stuff for his show and making Sydney Sweeney do blasphemy and unserious things with a dildo in her hands while the bible is there…This is sick."

Another wrote: "This is so embarrassing and unserious, talking about the holy bible while you are holding a dildo and doing sexual stuff? What is wrong with Sydney Sweeney?"

While a third added: "Sam Levinson, Sydney Sweeney, and Maude Apatow telling me to read the bible is weird as f**k."

It seems that Sweeney really wasn't joking when she previously hinted that 'dildos' would be a strong theme in the third series of Euphoria.

When asked what fans could expect from Cassie back in October last year, she simply told E! News: "Dildos."

"Hold on to those dildos," Sweeney joked. "It’s Cassie, what do you expect?"

I guess we can't say she didn't warn us.

Will there be a Euphoria season four?

Eagle-eyed fans will have noticed the latest episode of Euphoria was being advertised as a ‘season finale’, not a ‘series finale’ - does this mean Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and series creator Sam Levinson might come back for more?

Prior to the season three premiere, Levinson told Variety there were ‘no plans’ for another season, but added the caveat that he thought the previous two seasons of Euphoria would be the final ones too.

But following the broadcast of the finale, Levinson confirmed to The New York Times that there definitely won't be a season four - which is unsurprising, given the way the latest episode ends.

He told the outlet's Popcast podcast: "In terms of the story we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me.

"It was such a fulfilling journey in terms of this cast, the crew, what we were able to accomplish.

"There are thousands of things that have to go right in order to make something like this, and I'm just immensely proud of the work we did, the story we told, and it's a tragic one in the end, but also it's the truth.

"If you are experimenting or taking drugs today, it's very possible it'll kill you."

When asked by the hosts if 'that's it, Euphoria ends here, with Rue', Levinson responded: "Yeah."
