James Corden bombarded with same question as he posts photo from last ever Gavin & Stacey episode

James Corden bombarded with same question as he posts photo from last ever Gavin & Stacey episode

Fans of the hit BBC show all want to know the same thing

Gavin and Stacey fans are turning out in force on Barry Island as filming for the final ever episode gets underway, hoping to get a sneak peak of what's going on behind the scenes.

A lot of people have had sleepless nights since we were left on that engagement cliffhanger back in December 2019, so it's no wonder that some viewers are trying to get wind of some spoilers down in Wales.

Ruth Jones, who plays the hilarious Nessa, previously tried to throw people off the scent when being pestered to spill the contents of the Christmas special's storyline, but it's done little to quell anyones curiosity.

And now, people are bombarding James Corden with the same question about the final episode of Gavin and Stacey.

The actor, 46, has been pretty good at keeping fans in the loop since confirming that the gang were getting back together for one last time earlier this year.

He's been candid about them being on a time-crunch to get everything ready, as well as the fact that him and Jones had to sit down to re-write the script after realising it was 'too long'.

But like the rest of them, Corden is keeping his cards close to his chest about what goes down in the Christmas special.

As filming for it kicked off this week, the former Late Late Show host gave us a glimpse of Smithy's legendary blue Volvo, which he uses for his 'tillin, roofin, plasterin, and feng shui' business.

And following that, we got to see Corden attempt some crowd control as he politely ushered fans away, while they were filming for the hit show on the seafront.

Yesterday (4 September), he uploaded a post to Instagram showing the back of Jones and her co-star Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, alongside the caption: "Day 2. One last time on the island x."

The comment section filled up quite quickly, with fans willing the powers that be to take a leaf out of Venezuela's President book and bring Christmas forward this year.

But as that's highly unlikely, the focus of a lot of fans turned to one certain loose end which viewers really hope Corden and Jones will tie up in the last episode of Gavin and Stacey.

Of course, it's the infamous fishing trip which Jason (Robert Wilfort) and Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) went on.

It's been a constant running joke throughout the entirety of the series, but apart from those two and Dave Coaches, no one knows what went down while they were out in nature together which brought them so much shame.

And if we don't find out come Christmas, fans have made it clear they won't be happy.

One person commented on Corden's post: "Can't wait. Hopefully we will get to find out what happened on the fishing trip."

Another said: "I swear if it ends and I don’t know whether he said yes, or about the fishing trip, I’m done."

A third added: "The fishing trip definitely needs more clarity."

While a fourth wrote: "I will need counselling if we don’t find out if Smithy said yes or the fishing trip! No more cliffhangers, my nerves can’t take it!"

And a fifth chimed in: "Don't forget to add the air fryer, James. I'm so excited. Are we going to find out about the fishing trip?"

I guess we will have to tune in to find out... or Corden and Jones better go back to the drawing board, pronto.

But for now, Gavin and Stacey fans can simply enjoy the fact that the cast is back on Barry Island for one last time.

Corden told the BBC it was 'wonderful' to return, as there is 'so much history over the past 17 years here'.

"I think it's an incredibly special place with really, really special people," he said.

It's lovely to be here, but it's also the feeling of being like, this is the last time I think we'll be on the island."

So enjoy it while you can, folks!
