A writer from Grey’s Anatomy has spoken out after having faked cancer, revealing what she says is ‘the truth’ ahead of a new documentary about her.
Elisabeth Finch was a writer on the hit medical show over the course of six years from 2015 to 2022.
It was exposed by Vanity Fair and The Ankler in 2022 that she lied and got her job on the show after faking having chondrosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

She was put on leave after the allegations broke.
This is among several other lies, including that her brother died by suicide, and that a Hollywood actress gave her a kidney.
This is set to be detailed in a brand new documentary, titled Anatomy of Lies.

After lying about her diagnosis, she became ‘the cancer expert’ on the show, and went to elaborate lengths to maintain her lies.
This included shaving her head and faking the symptoms of chemo.
Finch initially refused to comment, releasing a statement via her lawyer which in part said: "Ms. Finch is not going to discuss her private health matters."
She would later admit to The Ankler that she had never had cancer.
In a post on Instagram, ahead of the released of Anatomy of Lies, she broke her near two-year silence on the issue.

She said in a statement: “I’ve given no one any reason to believe a word I say. I lied about so much; things so many people have been devastated by in real life. ‘I’m sorry’ feels like the smallest words compared to what I’ve done, yet they are the truest.”
She went on to discuss her engagement to her now ex-wife Jennifer Beyer, who she met in a mental health facility in 2019.
Her statement went on to say that she had been focused on centring her life on ‘the truth’, before saying:
“The truth is, there is no excuse, no justification—nothing will ever make my lies to anyone okay.

“Nothing erases the trauma I caused- the fear, the pain, the anger, the tears, the time.
“And nothing matters more to me than holding myself accountable in every way. I will continue to repair whatever damage I can and ensure I am not the worst things I’ve done.
“I recognise all of this will take time for people to believe.

“I will work and wait as long as it takes”.
Her ex-wife Beyer appears in the documentary, as do two of their children, discussing the lengths Finch went to hide the fake nature of her cancer.
