House of the Dragon season two is over, and I’m sure we’re all distraught that we have to wait till next year at the earliest to return to Westeros.
The finale has dropped to a mixed reaction, but there is one part of it which has drawn universal acclaim - a cameo from an integral part of Game of Thrones.
HOTD has been minimal in its links to GOT so far, particularly due to the fact that it takes place almost 200 years prior to the downfall of House Targaryen and ascension of the Baratheons of Kings Landing.
The newest episode, however, features multiple cameos and links to the show, and the biggest of the cameos even has some fans saying it confirms a huge theory.

These cameos are linked to Matt Smith’s Daemon, who has spent almost the whole season going through visions and bizarre nightmares.
In the newest episode, Daemon is brought to a weirwood tree where he is shown a vision of the future – aka GOT.
Alongside the Three Eyed Raven or Brynden Rivers (played by Max von Sydow), and the White Walkers, there is also a vision of Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) with her three baby dragons.

Although it is not clear whether it is Clarke herself or a body double - fans were, of course, characteristically super chill about it.
One posted on X: “DAENERYS TARGARYEN YOU WILL ALWAYS BE F*CKING FAMOUS.”
Another posted the cameo and said: “DAENERYS F**KING TARGARYEN.
"I AM F**KING CRYING & SCREAMING RN."

While someone else called her 'the main character of asoiaf'.
If there’s a tweet out there about this that’s not in all caps freaking out, I haven’t seen it yet.
The vision, however, for many hardcore GOT fans, confirmed a long held theory.

An X account - aptly named ‘Rhaenyra Targaryen’s Lawyer’ - said: “HOUSE OF THE DRAGON HAVING A DAENERYS CAMEO AND CONFIRMING SHE IS THE SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, SHE IS THE PRINCESS THAT WAS PROMISED #HouseOfTheDragon.”
The ‘prince that was promised’, or Azor Ahai, is a prophecy that ran through GOT and the Song of Ice and Fire books.
This prophecy foretold a prince - or princess - who would be a saviour of the world that stops the threat of the White Walkers with a 'flaming sword'.
The shows, however, never paid off this prophecy by giving it a concrete answer, with it being a more prominent plot line in the books - and there's a few contenders as to who it could be.

As fans wait for the 'Winds of Winter' to come out, discussion around who could be the ‘prince that was promised’ is rife and, according to fans, this scene basically confirms it's Daenerys.
Considering that’s always been my assumption and theory, I’m feeling very smug at the moment.
