While we’ve had a few callouts of the dreaded phrase mid-trial, we’re yet to see a campmate this year outright refuse to do a Bushtucker Trial.
Of course, it’s a bit boring when that does happen really because it’s one of the best parts of the TV show.
Although, there’s no denying that Lady Colin Campbell consistently refusing to do trials is one of the most iconic moments in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! history, even if she did end up quitting altogether.

But it’s still quite a sh**ty thing to do – you’re not even bothering to attempt to win food for you and your campmates.
ITV does have some rules for it though that can mean the trial goes ahead even if the original campmate the public voted for gives it a stern ‘no’.
Basically, when someone refuses to do the trial they’ve been voted for, then it’s up to the celeb who got the next highest amount of public votes.

Ant and Dec always give campmates the choice not to take on the trial after they’ve explained it to them at the clearing but it’s rare they’ll do the Lady C ‘no’.
In ITV’s terms and conditions for trial voting, it explains: “If the celebrity/celebrities who receives the highest number of votes to do a Trial or other activity refuse(s) to participate in the Trial (or to continue to participate if they have started the activity) or is unable to participate or continue to participate due to medical concerns, or for other reasonable concerns, which are beyond the control of ITV and/or the producers, then the celebrity/celebrities who has received the next highest number of votes may be required to do the Trial or other activity.”
But then, in a bit of a nightmare scenario, if that celebrity then refuses to do it or is unable to participate, then an alternative campmate ‘may be selected to take part in the trial at the producers’ discretion’.

And it adds: “If the vote is for a team of celebrities and any celebrity/celebrities refuses to participate in the activity or is unable to do so due to medical concerns, or for other reasonable concerns, which are beyond the control of ITV and/or the producers, then the team with the largest number of votes will still participate in the activity without such celebrity/celebrities.”
So, basically, if a celebrity refuses to do a trial, the main likelihood is that the next most voted for celeb will have to go and do it. You’d be well p**sed off wouldn’t you?
