Bryan Cranston, who today turned 69-years-old, will be returning for a reboot of the classic series Malcolm in the Middle.
The actor has been hinting at the possibility for years, as has Frankie Muniz.
In an age of reboots and returns to iconic shows, however, it was only a matter of time, and in December of last year it was confirmed that the show would be coming back.

In addition to this, we have three confirmed members of the cast returning for the reboot. In addition to this, the actor behind the iconic character Dewey, Erik Per Sullivan, has been given a return verdict.
What do we know about the reboot?
It was confirmed in December 2024 that the series would be returning for a TV reboot.
In addition to Muniz and Cranston returning, Jane Kaczmarek is set to come back.
The official plot has also been revealed for the reboot, reading: “Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”

Cranston wrote the episodes for the reboot, with the idea originally being a reunion film.
The actor had also spoken about a possible reboot prior to its official announcement.

He told E! News: “There was some talk about the possibility of doing like a reunion movie of Malcolm in the Middle.
“We had such a great family on that and I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up like, 'Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later.'

“I can't believe it's already that, but that would be fun to do."
What is the verdict on Dewey’s actor, Erik Per Sullivan, returning?
There is a great deal of speculation around Dewey’s actor, Erik Per Sullivan.
Part of this is that Sullivan has largely left the spotlight ever since the show. The former actor is now 33-years-old and Jane Kaczmarek said he was ‘well, he's very, very well.’
She went on to say: “He did Malcolm for seven years, he started at seven, he ended at 14. He wasn't interested in acting, at all.

"He goes to school at a very prestigious American university that he's asked us all to be quiet about, and he loves Charles Dickens.
"He's doing graduate work in Victorian literature. I admire it because so many people think being in show business is the greatest thing in the world, it's not for everyone.”

Muniz also weighed in on Sullivan, saying: “To be honest, I don't know what he's up to. I hate to say that because I've talked to him a few times since the show ended.
"I've talked to his parents a lot. When I was in the band, we went and played in the city where he lives and his parents came to the show, but unfortunately he couldn't make it.
"So I got to talk to them, and he's been all over doing a lot of different things.
"But one thing I know, some actors or some people just got to do it when they were a kid and then they wanted to experience other things and kind of live a more normal life out of the spotlight.
"I think that's what he wanted to do so good for him."
