Netflix's number one TV show in the UK is a horrifying true crime drama that has left viewers in tears.
Originally commissioned by ITV in 2020, the two parter is a recreation of the events leading up to the tragic murder of Banaz Mahmod in 2006.
The 20-year-old Iraqi Kurdish woman lived in Mitcham, South London, England, and was murdered on the orders of her family.

When Mahmod decided to leave her abusive forced marriage to start a relationship of her own choosing, her family had her killed in a so-called 'honour killing'.
Honour follows the true story of Mahmod and the tragic circumstances surrounding her death.

Honour currently sits at number one in the top 10 TV programs on UK Netflix, at the time of writing, ahead of Supacell and Vikings Alghalla.

Taking to social media, viewers have been left upset and angry by what happened to Mahmod, as her father, uncle and three cousins were eventually convicted for her murder.
Writing on X, one person admitted: "I cried… so so sad. So so evil.
"I hope she rests in peace and feel so bad for her bf and that he ended up committing suicide as he was so heartbroken so awful all around."

A second added: "Watching Honour on Netflix and she reported it to the police, even did a statement.
"Went to the police FOUR times. This was in 2006/2007, and nothing has changed to protect women, and they tried to arrest HER. #netflix #honour #banazmahmod."
"Honour on Netflix is so sad. I have no words it’s just sad," a third penned.
"I would hope if this was to happen today their community would speak up but I’m not sure that’s the case."

As a fourth also said: "If only this case this horror had ended all so called honour killings. Such ignorance no honour in it.
"Frozen values as they say in the series. Sadistic madness of killing & raping should be acceptable even praised. Not a man among them."
Someone else also fumed: "What I find bizarre is how Banaz’s name is erased. 'A young girl' strips her identify, names hold a personal significance.

"Let’s humanise victims and not reduce them to generic gendered descriptions."
Other viewers said they were 'still as shocked and emotional as the first time' it was shown on ITV.
The series stars Keeley Hawes as Caroline Goode, Rhianne Barreto as Bekhal Mahmod, Mark Stanley as Andy Craig and Buket Komur as Banaz Mahmod.
Honour is available to watch on UK Netflix now.
