It's no secret that South Park likes to poke fun at celebrities, politicians and current affairs.
Quick-witted creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone typically write and produce each episode of the animated sitcom in the week preceding their broadcast.
Needless to say, these two ensure that every instalment of the comedy show touches on some hot topics - such as Elon Musk's ketamine use.

Although the Tesla tycoon, 53, made the revelation about his 'medical prescription' for the dissociative anaesthetic last year, discussion surrounding it has cropped back up recently.
Given that Musk has been a constant presence in the White House since Donald Trump took office in January, his name is constantly hitting headlines.

He currently heads up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), although there are rumors his government title is set to expire quite soon - even though the president is keen to keep him on.
Either way, Musk's mere proximity to the Oval Office has been ruffling feathers left, right and centre - so it's only right that South Park include this stuff in the new series, don't you think?

The trailer for the 27th season has just dropped and it's brimming with topical subjects, while it begins with a chilling child-like voice singing the words: "Times have changed."
Take a look at it for yourself here:
Beloved characters Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman and Kenny McCormick are seen navigating a burning city, as well as flying through space while a jumpsuit-wearing Sean 'Diddy' Combs chases them.
There's a series of fireballs as two planes collide in the sky, while what appear to be air traffic controllers complain that they are all going to get fired. I told you, it's topical.

Anyway, among all the satirical madness that is set to come in the next series of South Park, there's something of a dig slipped in towards Musk too.
In the clip promoting the new season, comical character Randy Marsh is seen having a chat with his daughter Shelley, while clutching a jar labelled 'ketamine'.
He asks his offspring: "Shelley, have you been taking ketamine? Because I think it could really help you."
Later, Randy is seen walking out of his home while his wife Sharon asks him where he is off to.

He then bluntly responds: "I’m just going to do some ketamine and f**k around with the government a little. See ya!"
The trailer then concludes with the same child-like voice which featured at the beginning, which then eerily sings: "Blame Canada..."
It appears that the ketamine quips are in reference to Musk's revelations last year about his use of the drug, as well as his DOGE work and being the president's right hand man.
During an interview with journalist Don Lemon in 2024, the SpaceX boss revealed that he has a prescription for ketamine from an 'actual, real doctor'.
He claimed that he uses a 'small amount once every other week, or something like that' while revealing the reason why he does so.

Musk told Lemon: "There are times when I have sort of a negative chemical state in my brain, like depression I guess, or depression that’s not linked to any negative news.
"And ketamine is helpful for getting one out of the negative frame of mind."

Ketamine is a general anaesthetic and makes people who use it feel dream-like, relaxed and happy, though it can also produce feelings of confusion and nausea.
It can be used as an anaesthetic for humans and animals, as approved by the US' Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In January this year, Johnson & Johnson’s ketamine-derived nasal spray made to help 'adults living with major depressive disorder who have had an inadequate response to at least two oral antidepressants' was green lit by the FDA.
The firm said it was the 'first and only' monotherapy for treatment-resistant depression, which is a term that describes the use of a single drug or treatment to address a specific condition, according to the New York Post.
As Musk has previously confessed to being a fan of South Park, fans have been left wondering what he will think of the supposed digs.
South Park season 27 will premiere on Comedy Central on 9 July.
