The nightmare of the ‘saddest ever Grand Designs’ house could finally end after a fresh offer has been made to buy it.
And it’s come from a bloke who has actually been trying to get his hands on it for quite some time.
Most of us know the story of this ‘sad’ property off the telly all too well by now. Back in 2019, Ed Short appeared on the TV show in what was dubbed the ‘saddest ever’ episode with his home near North Devon.

The music executive started out with a budget of £1.8 million and aimed to complete construction within 18 months. However, a string of problems led to him feeling like Chesil Cliff House was ‘cursed’ as he was eventually reportedly left with £7million of debt and it took years and years to complete.
Short initially put the place up with an asking price of £7.5 million and it eventually went down to £5.25 million.
Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, previously tried to buy the place but his £7.5million bid was rejected.

But now, the martial arts millionaire wants to ‘get the deal done’ and says he’s putting a new offer in.
Planning to stand as a Reform UK MP alongside his pal Nigel Farage, Fiddes wrote on Instagram: “The BARGAIN of the century! Time to get this deal done!
“Who remembers when I put an offer in to buy this house in #croydebay that was featured on the TV show #granddesigns ? It turned out to be a bit of a sad story for the owner who clearly had no idea what he was doing!”
He explained his previous offer had been to turn it ‘into luxury apartments’ but the owner was ‘mad pushing for £10million’.

But now Fiddes says he should have taken his offer and added: “It needs at least £2 million spent on it to make it liveable and safe!”
Sharing photos of his car overlooking the Devon lighthouse-inspired place, he continued: “I think as #blackfriday is approaching I’m going to try yet again to get this property over the line directly with the banks receivers!
“Can’t think of anything else to buy my wife for #xmas! @moniqefiddes had a new #Ferrari last Xmas(that got crushed in our gates)! That's hard to top! Although this may do it!”

Explaining it would be a great place to have meetings with Donald Trump, he added: “My #lamborghini looks good with it too! Time to get this deal finally over the line! New offer going in tomorrow!”
Now imagine that, Trump meeting up with Farage in the ‘saddest house ever’. It writes itself, doesn’t it?
