Fans think The Simpsons has ‘done it again’ with predicting future after image of Kamala Harris goes viral

Fans of The Simpsons have been quick to draw connections between Kamala Harris and a certain episode

If you've been online recently, you'll have seen that fans think The Simpsons has eerily done it again, and correctly predicted something else.

When is it going to end?

Fans of the long-running Fox TV series have taken to X to highlight the latest 'coincidence' spotted on the cartoon comedy.

In the past, we've seen The Simpsons correctly predict the bizarre collaboration between Cypress Hill and the London Symphony Orchestra, mutant fish caused by water pollution, and even the 'Hawk Tuah' girl.

But it looks like there's a new addition to the list, as a 2000 episode of the show reveals.

News broke on Sunday afternoon that Joe Biden was stepping down from the upcoming US presidential election, with Republican candidate Donald Trump quick to respond on X with a brutal message.

However, in Biden's announcement that was posted on social media platforms, he seemed to fully endorse his current vice president, Kamala Harris, as leader for the Democrat party ahead of the November election.

But fans were quick to notice something about Harris and a seemingly obvious link with The Simpsons ahead of her potential presidency campaign.

In an episode that first aired 24 years ago, Lisa Simpson donned a purple suit when she was elected President 30 years in the future, after a disastrous Donald Trump term as the leader of the US.

As the president, Lisa states: "As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump."

So, it's even more accurate than you might think.

This particular Season 11 episode has been heavily cited and references Trump's rise to power and eventual term as the 45th US president from 2017 to 2021.

But fans realised that Lisa'a purple suit looked strikingly similar to that of Kamala Harris, when Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President in January 2021.

The vice president was in a purple ensemble almost exactly like Lisa's, and the internet is freaking out (again).

One user said: "Remember when Lisa was President of The United States on The Simpsons? Was that Kamala Harris?"

Another posted: "Not for nothing but the Simpsons already predicted this...."

A third shared: "The Simpsons has done it again! Here's from the 17th episode of the 11th season (in the year 2000) showing Lisa Simpson as the first female president of the United States talking about how the country is broke after President Trump. And, here's Kamala wearing the same outfit at Biden's inauguration."

Others begged the show to predict good fortunes in their future, but it turns out that it's not as carefully thought out as you might think.

The writer of the episode in question, Dan Greaney, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in March 2016 about the 'warning' episode.

He explained: "And that (Trump becoming President) just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.

"What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that’s why we had Trump be president before her," he said.

Greaney added: "I am tickled we are getting all this attention, but I don’t think it’s going to trigger this well-awaited reevaluation of my episode that I was hoping for.

"The Simpsons has always kind of embraced the over-the-top side of American culture … and [Trump] is just the fulfilment of that," he concluded.
