The Traitors viewers convinced they've detected secret relatives playing in the game

Could there be another '...but Ross is' situation?

With two weeks of The Traitors under our belts, the theories are getting deeper and, let’s be honest, weirder.

As we hook onto every word the contestants say and every move they make, we become obsessed with them and their lives. OK, some of us do anyway.

But you can’t help but get swept up into analysing what they’re up to and wondering if they’re hiding any secrets. I mean, with one of them randomly pretending to be Welsh (I still don’t get it) and others hiding their careers, it’s understandable we’re suspicious.

And as some viewers have been thinking two of them are married, others reckon they’ve detected a different pair as being secret relatives playing in The Traitors.

The contestants in question? Interior designer Francesca and the repeatedly accused, fellow Faithful and politics student Freddie.

Frankie has openly spoke on the show about being a mum to boys, just as Freddie has spoken about being particularly close to his mum.

So fans haven their sweet bond to the next level by becoming convinced they’re actually mother and son in real life.

Yep, another ‘…but Ross is’ situation (RIP Diane of season two, you are missed).

When things got pretty tough for Freddie in the castle recently, Francesca was one of those who voted for him at the roundtable – something she seemed to find particularly hard.

But when they left the banishment, she was quick to console him, giving him a hug as she got pretty teary and reassured Freddie: “It’s OK. You’re OK. It’s just a game.”

Speaking to the cameras after, he spoke about how gutted he was to get a vote from her. “It was just horrible when you feel like everyone's talking about you and attacking you. It's a bit upsetting but it is what it is," he explained.

"Seeing Frankie vote for me, that felt like a knife through the heart. Frankie's like a mum to me in here so that was really upsetting."

And viewers have absolutely jumped on that as they wrote on social media: “Locking in my prediction that Francesca is Freddie’s mum.”

“Why oh why am I thinking that Francesca might actually be Freddie’s mum?…” another wrote.

With one writing: “Francesca is Freddie’s mum, calling it!”

But while plenty of viewers might be believing this theory, it seems like it’s pretty much false. Freddie has spoken openly about being an only child while Frankie is a mum-of-four.

Plus, a quick search online suggests he doesn’t resemble any of her kids. But, I guess who knows what other secrets are being held this season.

The Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
