The Traitors star Hugo reveals moment cast discussed theory everyone in the castle is connected

Fans of The Traitors have been theorising that everyone in the show is connected in some way to each other

The Traitors star Hugo has opened up about his time on the hit BBC show, and even revealed that the cast themselves have considered a viral theory that all of them are connected.

The BBC show’s fourth season has massively departed from what everyone knows The Traitors to be, introducing the ‘Secret Traitor’ twist which completely changes the dynamic of the series.

Outside of trying to figure out who the ‘Secret Traitor’ is though the next biggest discussion online has been around what connections people in the show have to each other.

The Traitors has previously had secret parents and secret partners, but fans have become convinced this season is unprecedentedly full of secret connections.

Roxy and Judy were revealed in episode one to be mother and daughter, and fans have since found links between Ross and Ellie after some pretty serious social media stalking.

One major fan theory has spawned out of this, suggesting that every single member of the show is connected to each other in some bizarre chain – and the contestants on the show themselves have even considered it.

Speaking exclusively to LADbible after becoming the earliest Traitor to be banished from the show ever, Hugo actually said that this was something they considered themselves.

When asked about the connections on the show, Hugo revealed that the family tree painting of all the contestants ‘did everyone’s head in’.

He said: “That family tree in the lobby area completely did our heads in because we had to walk past it four or five times a day. I think a bit like the commentary online… we sometimes thought everyone was connected!”

He clarified that he knew it couldn’t necessarily be ‘everyone’ but added that contestants were sitting down trying to figure out who had connections to each other on the show.

He said: “You can see that [contestants were trying to find connections], you can see how their minds are working. People became pretty distracted by that.”

Hugo added that he actually ‘completely missed’ the link between Roxy and Judy, stating that no one was talking about it.

When asked about the Secret Traitor, Hugo actually revealed another fascinating detail about the show, saying: “So your basic state of knowledge is frozen at the time that you leave.”

He explained that whilst contestants talk to each other, they do not tell each other details about the show after the fact, and once you leave, you don’t learn anything more about what happened.

When asked about how he felt to be the quickest Traitor to ever be caught, even quicker than all-time iconically terrible Traitor Linda, he laughed and said: “I mean, to share, to share anything with Linda is brilliant.

“I mean, look, I love the game… by the time they got me I was just thinking, right, how'd you get out of this? With a nice dramatic exit, right?

“As I left, the roof came off and I did at that point have a sense of relief because that was day three in terms of the show, but rather longer in terms of being up there. I'd really done an awful lot of what I wanted to do.

“It was getting to the point where, you know, it's fun to pretend you're the Phantom of the Opera, and they put this cloak on you and you get this lantern. But then actually, sending people home, you know, murdering people in the game… it's not pleasant.”

He pointed to the fact that, whilst we only see them lying for an hour a day, you're lying 'all the time' on the show, and it takes a toll.

The Traitors returns tonight, January 7, at 8pm on BBC One.
