Tonight’s (11 May) episode of Virgin Island absolutely ramps things up a notch (or two).
We’re finally introduced to BDSM Coach Shelby Devlin, who leads workshops with the group, explains the psychology behind humiliation kinks and encourages the participants to engage in play.
But we also get to see Bertie get his first proper tour of female genitalia thanks to his surrogate partner, Kat.
The 24-year-old, who is autistic, has never kissed a woman and classes himself as a ‘grade A virgin’ as he wouldn’t ‘know what I was doing’.
Advert
A previous Virgin Island episode saw him learning how to position himself for sex as well as having a kiss with Kat.
And in this evening’s episode, he is encouraged to put his fingers inside of her vaginal opening.
'I wouldn't know what to do'
Having established a good bond with the surrogate, she believes Bertie is ready for this ‘next step’.
So, the pair strip off their clothes totally as Kat offers up an ‘anatomy lesson’.
“I obviously know what female genitals look like,” Bertie explains. “When it comes to dealing with one if I ever have sex, I wouldn’t know what to do. I’d know the different names of the different parts but I don’t know where’s where.
“So, I wouldn’t know where to, you know… aim.”

Kat has Bertie find different parts, such as the outer and inner labia, as well as the clitoris, the latter of which he says is 'the hard one' to find.
He manages to locate the clitoris on the first go, but seems to end up poking Kat in it. She reassures him: "It's OK. It's super sensitive."
He laughs nervously before the surrogate tells him of her vaginal opening: “You can put your finger inside too to just feel what it feels like.”
After some hesitation, Bertie goes for it, with some more nervous giggling and gives his finger a sniff afterwards.
“I’m just curious,” he says. “Ok, it doesn’t smell of anything.”

'If I could do it again, I would'
Kat reassures him that it’s all OK, as it’s part of the learning experience and to help him feel more confident, making a ‘small step towards losing his virginity’.
Bertie previously told LADbible that filming Virgin Island last year was ‘one of the best experiences of my life’.
He praised the 'amazing welfare team’, saying he always felt 'very safe', and added that it was a misconception the show was 'going to exploit a bunch of virgins'.
“If I could do it again, I would,” he added. “I've tried all these new things with the therapists and it's just something that I would have never even thought of doing in the real world, so it was a fantastic experience.
“I've learned so many new things, I've tried so many new things and I've made new friends. I will never forget my time on Virgin Island for as long as I live.”
The strict rules Virgin Island cast members must follow
No contact with the therapists after the show
Dave, the only cast member on season one to lose his virginity, told the Daily Mail he was banned from contacting sex therapist Kat Slade again.

He said: “It was explained very clearly to us that you don’t stay in touch after – it’s sort of two weeks, and that’s it and then you move on.
“It’s not easy to just detach from feelings, but I think it’s an important lesson of it to like have those feelings and then let go of them.”
Do not enter other participants’ rooms
Cast members have to stay out of each other’s living quarters, but Ed, 27, from this season said it was ‘easy enough to follow’ since the cast spent 15 hours every day filming together.
One phone call per week
The cast members’ phones were confiscated when they arrived at the Obonjan Island Resort in Croatia, where they stayed for three and a half weeks.
However, they were allowed to nominate one family member or loved one to have a weekly phone call with while filming.
Ed told Wales Online: “We nominated a person who we'd want to talk to - I said my mum - and when we had a down day we'd get the opportunity to speak to them.

"It was really nice, but I think because everyone was so nice and I felt comfortable with everyone, I didn't feel like I needed that phone call because I felt I had a support group with me.
