Divorced virgin who's into BDSM reveals why she still hasn’t had sex at 42

A divorced virgin has revealed why, at 42 years old, she remains proudly celibate.

Rhasha Newkirk spoke out ahead of her appearance on TLC’s Virgins, an American reality TV show with a similar concept to Channel 4’s Virgin Island.

Newkirk, 42, is an adult virgin, as are all the main participants of the TV show.

Similarly to Virgin Island, Virgins will feature four adult virgins ‘stepping outside their comfort zones and taking big swings to finally go all the way’.

Newkirk is among the four who will look to try and progress to a point where they feel comfortable having sex by the end of the show.

She is the oldest of the group, with the other Virgins being 35, 34, and 37 respectively.

The 42-year-old, from Jacksonville, Florida, is recently single having left her previous marriage - and in her cast bio touts her recent 80-pound (36 kilograms) weight loss.

Newkirk alleges that her previous marriage, to a South Korean man, was a Green Card arrangement, and thus was not physical for the whole time they were together.

She has been celibate her whole life, including her marriage, however has stated on the show and in interviews that she has an interest in BDSM (commonly standing for bondage, domination, sadism, masochism).

Despite having yet to experience sex, Newkirk said in an interview with the New York Post that she's ‘got the Google’ so knew a lot about sex and what she likes, namely BDSM.

Speaking in the first episode, she said: “Yes, you heard that right, 42 and [I’ve] never seen any action and we got to fix that.

“I am wanting to lose my virginity to someone special and I'm trying to find that person.

“I am kind of awkward because I don't know what I am doing, but I do not want to be in my 80s and not having been cracked open.”

When asked about what she was would like her to imagine herself having sex Newkirk described it, saying: “I am in a bedroom with white sheets, and it's like, I'm tied with my hands behind my back”, before adding she would be blindfolded.

Speaking to the New York Post specifically about why she hasn’t had sex yet, she said she ‘knows what she deserves’, referencing how her father bought flowers and meals for her mum.

Newkirk said: “He’ll do all these things, and that’s what I’m used to… Some men today aren’t stepping up to the plate like they should.

“I’m not going to tolerate the bare minimum.”

The 42-year-old went on to add: “I think when [people] see someone who’s an older virgin, they’re like, ‘how? Like, don’t you have urges?’ Absolutely, I have urges. But, I have my self-love.

“You don’t have to follow society or a timeline that guides people on how to do things. It’s okay to be true to yourself and be authentic to yourself and trust the journey that it will happen at the right time.”
